Welcome back, everyone. Once again, I’m here to help you with your start/sit dilemmas. We’re now in our Week 8 edition of Dynasty Start/Sits. There’s some money to be made this week, so let’s get down to business.
Starts – Quarterbacks
Jared Goff– Detroit Lions
Vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Goff is coming off a rough outing against Baltimore, where he finished as the QB24 and threw a season-high 53 pass attempts. Expect a bounce-back game in week eight versus the Raiders. I’m projecting another high-volume passing day from Goff as lead back David Montgomery recovers from a rib injury. It’s clear the Lions have trouble on the ground without him, and they’ll likely look to complete short-yardage throws to make up for it. With the weapons at his disposal, I’ve got Goff as a Top-10 QB to play this week.
Brock Purdy– San Francisco 49ers
Vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Purdy hasn’t looked the same in his last two games, finishing as the QB25 in week six and QB16 in week 7. In what should be a fun matchup against the Bengals, I like Purdy to get back on track, especially if Trent Williams comes back. The Bengals have been susceptible to giving up passing yards this season. So, look for Kyle Shanahan to assemble a new game plan for his offense after back-to-back losses.
Dak Prescott– Dallas Cowboys
Vs. Los Angeles Rams
Prescott finally looked like his usual self with a QB1 overall performance in week 6. He had his best game running the ball of the season, with seven carries for 40 yards and a touchdown. If he continues to use his legs like he did in his previous game after coming off a bye, I’m projecting a top-10 finish from him this week against the Rams.
Sits – Quarterbacks
C.J. Stroud — Houston Texans
Vs. Carolina Panthers
Stroud has indeed outperformed expectations this year. However, the Panthers are stout against QBs, averaging only 15.4 fantasy points per game to the position. With both teams coming off of a bye, I’ll give the advantage to the defense facing a rookie QB.
Matthew Stafford– Los Angeles Rams
Vs. Dallas Cowboys
Sitting Stafford hurts, but he’s been prone to turnover this season. In seven games, he’s amassed six interceptions. Dallas is playing at home, where the defense averages 2.5 Interceptions per game. Stafford could be in for a long day against a Dallas defense with easily the best turnover margin when playing at home (+3.5).
Starts – Running Backs
Isiah Pacheco—Kansas City Chiefs
Vs. Denver Broncos
I’m pretty much starting any Running back going against Denver this year. Pacheco has a solid hold on the KC rushing workload right now and has five straight RB15 or better finishes. Load him up and make it six straight this week.
Dameon Pierce– Houston Texans
Vs. Carolina Panthers
Pierce has been highly inefficient this season, averaging a lowly 2.9 yards per carry. However, Carolina gives up the second most rushing yards per game while allowing the ninth fewest passing yards. The Texans will have to find a way to be more effective on the ground to win this week, and coming off a bye is a prime opportunity to make that happen.
Kareem Hunt— Cleveland Browns
Vs. Seattle Seahawks
Expect Jerome Ford to miss some time dealing with a high ankle sprain. In his absence, Hunt will likely see the lion’s share of the workload. While the status of Deshaun Watson is still in the air, Hunt could see a massive spike in volume in the coming weeks.
Sits – Running Backs
Najee Harris/ Jaylen Warren— Pittsburgh Steelers
Vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Over the last three games, Jacksonville allowed a whopping 61.7 rushing yards per game. This Pittsburgh offense has already been having a tough time getting things going. Najee and Warren scored last week, but I don’t expect that to continue. Both are solid sits for me.
Brian Robinson – Washington Commanders
Vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Robinson seems to have fallen off a cliff in recent weeks. Over the last three weeks, Robinson has seen a 50+% snap share once and has not gone over 35 yards on the ground. The backfield is firmly split between him, Antonio Gibson, and Chris Rodriguez. It’s hard to trust any of them against the Eagles, who allow the fewest rushing yards per game this year.
Starts – Wide Receivers
Jakobi Meyers – Las Vegas Raiders
Vs. Detroit Lions
Meyers has been arguably the biggest fantasy value this season. He has earned 10+ targets in four of six games this season and is currently WR14 on the year. Detroit is allowing the third most fantasy points to WRs this year, Making Meyers smash flex play again this week.
Josh Palmer – Los Angeles Chargers
Vs. Chicago Bears
Palmer is coming off of a career game, posting five catches for 133 yards. The Bears have allowed 38 rushing yards per game over the last three games. The Chargers could look to get the ball in the air more than usual in this one. Palmer could be a significant benefactor of that, which makes him a solid flex play this week.
Diontae Johnson — Pittsburgh Steelers
Vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
In his first game back from a Hamstring Injury, Johnson was out-targeted and out-gained by George Pickens. However, He only played 66% of the snaps. In week 8, Johnson should be back to his full route participation. He faces a Jacksonville defense, allowing over 320 passing yards per game over their last three games.
Sits – Wide Receivers
DeAndre Hopkins – Tennessee Titans
Vs. Atlanta Falcons
Hopkins has been a challenging play all season long. The Titans are last in pass attempts per game and third worst in passing yards per game. Ryan Tannehill is still not practicing, and if he cannot play, I don’t want any part of these Titans pass catchers.
Tyler Lockett — Seattle Seahawks
Vs. Cleveland Browns
Lockett has only finished as a top-24 WR twice in 6 games this year. This week, he draws an exceptional Browns secondary, allowing the second-fewest fantasy points to WRs. Even with DK Metcalf out last week, Lockett managed only to produce 5.80 fantasy points—he’s outside of my Top-36 WRs this week.
Chris Godwin — Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Vs. Buffalo Bills
Godwin’s ceiling has been uncharacteristically low this season. Through six games, he only has one top-24 finish. He’s playing on a short week, on the road, against an above-average pass defense. Things just don’t bode well for this Tampa Bay offense this week. If you can afford it, I would look for upside elsewhere this week.
Starts – Tight Ends
Darren Waller – New York Giants
Vs. New York Jets
Waller had his best game of the season last week, posting seven catches for 98 yards and a touchdown. This week, he faces the Jets, who give up the most fantasy points per game to TEs. I’ve got Waller locked in as a top-5 TE this week.
Dalton Kincaid – Buffalo Bills
Vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Dawson Knox is out indefinitely, leaving Kincaid to be the primary TE in the offense now. Kincaid had his highest catch and yardage total of the year last week en route to a TE7 finish. Top-10 finishes could be a weekly occurrence for Kincaid if he continues to be involved in the Buffalo offense like the previous week. Knox being out means there’s a much higher chance of that reality.
Sits – Tight Ends
Trey McBride— Arizona Cardinals
Vs. Baltimore Ravens
Zach Ertz may have been put on the IR this week, but that doesn’t make McBride a great option—at least not this week. The Ravens give up the fewest fantasy points in the league to TEs. So, although McBride is sure to see a surge in usage for the rest of the season, this week he’s a sit.
Dalton Schultz — Houston Texans
Vs. Carolina Panthers
Shultz has started to find his groove in this Houston offense. He’s had three straight top-10 TE finishes. Although this matchup features the top rookie picks from the draft, I view this as a run-heavy affair. The ceiling will be low for Shultz, landing him on my Sit list.
