Week 5 Dynasty Waiver Wire

Hello DFF members, my name is Chris, and I will be writing the weekly dynasty waiver adds piece this year. In this article I will be writing about players that I feel should be owned in much higher quantities in your dynasty leagues. I will try to stick to low ownership percentages, around 30% or less, but if there is a guy above that, who I think should be owned significantly more I will include them as well. I will be focusing on a 12-team, full PPR set-up for these articles but the players I am choosing should apply in 10-team leagues as well. Without further ado let’s get into the waiver adds.

Khalil Shakir

Khalil Shakir, WR BUF – 25% Owned

FAAB Recommendation: 8%

If Shakir is still unowned in your league it should not take much FAAB to get him which is why the recommendation is only 8%. However, Shakir should be owned in 100% of dynasty leagues. He is more of a stash for next year as he grows with Josh Allen and veterans start to decline while he improves. But, if something were to happen to other BUF receivers this year Shakir could easily find himself with a role that is useful for fantasy.

Chigoziem Okonkwo, TE TEN – 9.60% Owned

FAAB Recommendation: 4%

Okonkwo was one of my sleeper rookie tight ends enter the season and he has already been able to make an impact in this Titans offense, even if it was small. This is another add that is more of a play for next year than this year as he could turn into the team’s TE1 with an aging Austin Hooper as his main competition.

Mike Boone, RB DEN – 7.69% Owned

FAAB Recommendation: 35%

This one is more obvious but I still have to lay it out here. Not only do the Broncos like having a two RB system, but Gordon has been average and has fumbled four times in four games. Boone should see a split of the work, but if he plays well or Gordon continues to drop the ball Boone could lead this backfield.

(Side note: watch out for Latavius Murray as well. He did not look good with the Ravens in 2020 but he could cut into the workload given his established veteran resume.)

Bailey Zappe, QB NE – 6.63% Owned

FAAB Recommendation: 18%

Zappe did not look spectacular in his debut for the Patriots, nor did he look bad. In a Superflex league, he is a must-add, but I do not think there is a large chance he ever takes this job from Mac Jones. So a cheap claim is fine to place on him, but do not overpay just because he may start for a few weeks.

Phillip Lindsay and Deon Jackson, RB IND – 5% Owned

FAAB Recommendation: 1-3%

With the Jonathan Taylor almost injury we heard that Phillip Lindsay would work into the rotation, before this Deon Jackson was listed higher on the depth chart. If Taylor were to miss time one of these guys would see significant touches. They are worth stashing in deeper leagues or if you have an empty spot. I would recommend Lindsay over Jackson but only slightly, they are close

Honorable Mention

Gus Edwards, RB BAL – 18.76% Owned
