The Legend of Bart Starr… R.I.P.

He was born Bryan Bartlett Starr on January 9th, 1934 in Montgomery, Alabama. He attended the University of Alabama. As a non-starter during his freshman season, he played enough minutes to earn a varsity letter. This included him seeing some pivotal minutes in relief during the Orange Bowl. As a sophomore, he was a starter at quarterback, safety, and punter. Injuries and coaching changes prevented Starr from seeing much action during his final two seasons with the Crimson Tide. The Alabama basketball coach at the time still saw an incredible and determined athlete in Starr. He quickly recommended him to a friend who happened to be the Green Bay Packers director of player personnel.
