Raiding the IDP Waiver Wire: Week 7

“Raiding the IDP Waiver Wire” is written for fantasy football gamers in leagues that require a full complement of 11 defensive starters in leagues of 12 to 16 teams. Recommendations rely on scoring settings from FantasyPros.com, even though their value for passes defensed is a bit low. We’ll look for options at both conventional and true defensive positions as they arise. Players qualifying for this column are those rostered in no more than a third of IDP leagues on MyFantasyLeague.com (MFL). These recommendations further assume you, the manager, have finite roster space with challenging cut decisions to add new names.

IDP Crystal Ball: Week 2

When conducting in-season weekly maintenance in your leagues, you should take advantage of IR spots and any opportunities to add players to your roster. You may have a player ruled out or on short-term IR that is eligible for your league’s IR list–utilize this! If you haven’t already, make sure you max out your taxi squad players with youngsters you like who are eligible to be placed on that list.

IDP Post-Rookie Draft Waiver Targets

Each season in dynasty leagues there are post-rookie draft waiver targets that provide a tremendous value for owners who were savvy or lucky enough to find them on their roster. Some provide an immediate “home-run” return like Kamren Curl did last season or Maxx Crosby in 2019. Others make great taxi squad stashes that provide value later (think Jerome Baker, Josey Jewell, Jeffery Simmons, Dre Greenlaw, D.J. Wonnum, Alex Highsmith, etc.). The majority will fall flat as expected.

Week Four IDP Wrap Up

WHAT WE LEARNED THIS WEEK Philadelphia, winless through three weeks, relied on their defense to pull out their first victory. On Sunday Night Football, the Eagles registered five sacks, a fumble recovery, two interceptions, and a touchdown. Rodney McLeod, Alex Singleton, and Cre’von LeBlanc led the way in IDP production. Looking forward, the Philly defenders may be spending a lot of time on the field over the next month. The schedule consists of the Steelers, Ravens, and Cowboys in weeks five, six, and eight respectively. In week four, two defenses recorded three interceptions and a touchdown in their games. Those defenses were the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs. New York’s defense played admirably but was unable to pull out the victory on Thursday against Denver. Kansas City took down the Patriots backup QBs to win on Monday night. Pierre Desir, Neville Hewitt, Brian Poole, and Avery Williamson filled the stat sheet for New York and will continue to produce solid IDP results moving forward. Rashad Fenton, Tyrann Mathieu, Mike Pennel, and Juan Thornhill were the prime performers for Kansas City. The Los Angeles Rams, up against a depleted Giants offense, gave up a league-low nine points in their matchup on Sunday. The LA defenders were able to produce five sacks and an interception in the effort as well. IDP players of note for the Rams include Morgan Fox, Troy Hill, and Darious Williams.  TOP PLAYER PERFORMANCES Pierre Desir – CB – NEW YORK JETS On Thursday Night Football, the former Colts and now Jets cornerback lit up the

Raiding the IDP Waiver Wire: Week 5

Upon completion of one-quarter of the NFL season, we have enough evidence to conclude who players are and how they fit into their respective defenses. Players who we know are good finally made good on their preseason promise. Bengals’ RB Joe Mixon and Broncos’ EDGE Bradley Chubb reminded us why we drafted them. On the other hand, we should accept that Cardinals’ RB Kenyan Drake and Raiders’ LB Cory Littleton won’t be the studs that fuel our rosters in 2020.
