IDP Crystal Ball Week 6

METHODOLOGY In this weekly article, we will take a look at a couple of IDP players available in many leagues that appear to show promise or have a foreseeable path to time on the field and production. The hope is that you can acquire these players for free or relatively close to free. It depends on the depth and settings of each individual league. Qualifying players are those available in at least two-thirds of full IDP leagues on MyFantasyLeague.com (MFL). In leagues with deeper rosters, some of these are players to stash for a few weeks until their time and opportunity to produce are ripe. Getting ahead of your league mates on these players, while also saving valuable waiver budget dollars, will give you an edge over your competition. When conducting in-season weekly maintenance in your leagues, take advantage of IR spots and opportunities to add players. You may have a player ruled out or on short-term IR that is eligible for your league’s IR list–utilize this! If you haven’t already, make sure you max out your taxi squad players with youngsters you like who are eligible to be placed on that list.  Since most of these recommended additions will occur over the weekend, we will exclude any players from the Thursday night game, since they will be locked from already having played. Let’s explore this week’s recommendations on the IDP crystal ball!  MUST-ADD IF AVAILABLE  Bilal Nichols – DT – Chicago Bears For full positional and true-position IDP gamers requiring an interior DT in the lineup each week, there […]

Slim Pickings: 2020 Interior Defensive Linemen Ranks

The scarcity of defensive ends that challenge fantasy gamers assembling rosters in conventional-position IDP leagues shifts to the interior in true-position IDP. I’ve ranked 62 interior defensive linemen for 2020 because every IDL with a pulse will eventually appear on fantasy rosters. I calibrated my ranks for 2020 seasonal leagues for 14-team, true-position full-IDP leagues with the scoring settings of FantasyPros.com and 55 roster spots. To that end, I list here 40 interior defensive linemen in the order of value they offer teams starting 11 IDPs including two IDLs. The remaining 22 require additional explanation.

Stock Up to Win: 2020 EDGE Ranks

2019 was a banner year for rookie edge defenders. Several more break-out performances from players that fantasy gamers had left for dead combine with the rookies good depth to the EDGE position. The position mirrors the wide-receiver position in that there are more strong, steady options than ever and plenty of depth for those with the stomach to play match-ups.

IDP Change of Scenery: Cleveland to Las Vegas

One of the bigger names left on the market, Damarious Randall, just agreed to terms with the Las Vegas Raiders a few days ago. Unhappy with their veteran leadership and play at the safety position, they signed Randall to a one-year prove-it deal. There are no official numbers yet, but I would expect them to be team-friendly, and it’s been reported at $3.25 million.

The Dark Side of the Moon: Exploring IDP through the Prism of Offense

In the interest of furthering the inclusion of individual defensive players in redraft and dynasty leagues alike, let’s explore how each of the five defensive positions functions like an offensive position on fantasy football rosters. I can’t tell you which offensive player or even fantasy rookie draft pick you should offer for Aaron Donald without knowing the context of your league. I can, however, explain how to value defensive tackles in fantasy football using tight ends as context. In fact, each defensive position has a close parallel on offense.

Top Free Agent Edge Rushers

At age 27, Clowney will be entering his eighth season in the league. Up to this point, there have been mixed results from the freakish athlete. Injuries have been an issue throughout his career, as he’s only played all sixteen games in a season just once. However, there is no doubt the impact he can have on the field when healthy.
