In this weekly article, we will take a look at a couple of IDP players available in many leagues that appear to show promise or have a foreseeable path to time on the field and production. The hope is that you can acquire these players for free or relatively close to free. It depends on the depth and settings of each individual league. Qualifying players are those available in at least two-thirds of full IDP leagues on MyFantasyLeague.com (MFL).

You may have a player ruled out or on short-term IR that is eligible for your league’s IR list–utilize this! 2020 NFL Draft Round 1 IDP Fantasy Preview

Still on the Market: Clowney

The biggest name still on the market for the defensive side, has to be Jadeveon Clowney.  He was the first overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, made by the Houston Texans. Clowney spent five seasons with Houston, where he improved each season and became a perfect complementary piece, opposite star J.J. Watt.

IDP Change of Scenery: Denver to Baltimore

One of the more intriguing names left on the market for me was Derek Wolfe, who just agreed to terms with Baltimore Ravens a few days ago. Interestingly enough they signed Wolfe just days after Michael Brockers had issues with his physical, who they had signed earlier. Baltimore has been aggressively looking to overhaul its defensive line, as they have added Calais Campbell and tried to add Brockers.

IDP Change of Scenery: Cleveland to Las Vegas

One of the bigger names left on the market, Damarious Randall, just agreed to terms with the Las Vegas Raiders a few days ago. Unhappy with their veteran leadership and play at the safety position, they signed Randall to a one-year prove-it deal. There are no official numbers yet, but I would expect them to be team-friendly, and it’s been reported at $3.25 million.

IDP Change of Scenery: Atlanta to Cleveland

One of the bigger names left on the market, Adrian Clayborn, just signed with the Cleveland Browns, a few days ago. The Browns signed the former Atlanta Falcon to a two year, $5.75 million deal. Not an expensive signing, but a decent deal for Clayborn, and a team-friendly signing for the Browns. The deal will take the veteran defensive end through his age 33 season.

IDP Devy Rankings Top 25

#1 JR, LB, Micah Parsons, Penn State
Parsons led the team in tackles as a true freshman (82) and wasn’t a full-time starter. A year later he was that starter and led the team again (109) while becoming a complete impact linebacker. Along with his 109 tackles, he added 14 tackles for a loss, five sacks, four forced fumbles, and five pass breakups.

IDP Change of Scenery: Denver to Los Angeles

One team that addressed a need was the Los Angeles Chargers, who looked to upgrade and improve their cornerback group, signing Chris Harris Jr. They have veteran Casey Hayward on one side and super talented Swiss army knife, Desmond King covering the slot, but they need to improve their third corner of the group.

Dynamic Ducks

The Oregon Ducks have one of the best up and coming defenses in college football. Even losing such a high caliber player such as senior linebacker Troy Dye to the NFL Draft, the cupboard is far from bare in Eugene. The Ducks have some super talented young pieces that they will build around and keep them in the hunt, for not only a PAC-12 Championship each year but a BCS Playoff spot as well. Let’s take a look at the stars that will carry this team over the next two to three years.

Top Free Agent Cornerbacks

The top free-agent prize in the cornerback group is without a doubt, seven-year veteran Logan Ryan, His career can be told in two parts and both prove why he’ll be the most sought after corner in free agency. Ryan’s career began in New England, where the Patriots drafted him in the third round with the 83rd overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft. He would spend four seasons with the empire, playing in all sixty-four games, while becoming one of the league’s best tackling and coverage corners.

Top Free Agent Interior Defensive Linemen

Chris Jones is not only the top prize free agent interior defensive lineman but he is one of the top 10 overall defensive free agents. At age 25 he is among the youngest free agents but there are quite a few in this group. However, none of them are as talented or have the impact that Jones has had. Then when you consider that IDL is a highly coveted position by NFL teams, it takes his value to another level.

At age 27, Clowney will be entering his eighth season in the league. Up to this point, there have been mixed results from the freakish athlete. Injuries have been an issue throughout his career, as he’s only played all sixteen games in a season just once. However, there is no doubt the impact he can have on the field when healthy.
