Tory Horton Devy Profile

Looking for the Puka Nacua of the 2024 draft class? More than likely, that player doesn’t exist, as Nacua is putting up numbers we’ve never seen from a rookie, let alone a Day 3 draft pick. But, if you’re looking for a projected late-round rookie pick with massive upside, look no further than Colorado State WR Tory Horton. Not many Devy players are talking about him, but he’s quietly had one of the more productive collegiate careers in this 2024 class. Not playing for a Power 5 program has resulted in Horton flying under the radar. Most Devy ranking sites don’t have Tory’s name listed at all. But Horton has been a producer since his early days at Nevada, and he’s developed into arguably a top-ten WR in this class.

2022 DFF Draft Coverage: Trey McBride

McBride put together a marvelous high school career, excelling in three different sports. He earned All-Colorado honors for football. He set his high school record for most RBIs and home runs hit in baseball. And he set the school record for most career points scored in basketball. At Colorado State University, McBride was a viable receiving option during his first three seasons. Then, he popped off during his Senior year, accumulating 1,121 receiving yards and one touchdown on 90 receptions. During the 12 games played in 2021, McBride hauled in at least six receptions in 11 of them. He also produced at least 59 receiving yards in 11 of the 12 as well. His average of 7.5 receptions and 93.4 yards per game in 2021 shows that he’s used to producing large workloads.

Devy Players of the Week

In Miami’s regular-season finale, 6’4” 224 lbs. redshirt freshman, Tyler Van Dyke led the Hurricanes to a convincing 47-10 win over the Duke Blue Devils, throwing for 381 yards and three touchdowns. After taking over for injured D’Eriq King in Week 4, Van Dyke had a couple of rough outings, but starting in late October Van Dyke has looked like a very good young QB. Since Miami’s victory over NC State, Van Dyke has completed 66% of his passes for 2,194 yards, 20 touchdowns, three interceptions, and has a passer rating of 171.85. In his 10 appearances on the year, Van Dyke leads the ACC in Passing Yards Per Attempt with nine and is second in the conference in Passing Efficiency Rating at 160.1. I find his efficiency as a first-year starter to be very impressive.

Pro Day Round-Up

Today is March 11, 2021, this is important because we are less than a week away from Free Agency. On March 17th we will likely find out where players such as JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kenny Golladay, Aaron Jones, Will Fuller, Curtis Samuel, Corey Davis, Todd Gurley, Marvin Jones Jr., Kenyan Drake, T.Y. Hilton, A.J. Green, and Hunter Henry will land. There are 43 days until the NFL Draft, and in most years we would have the NFL Combine to overreact to, however, as you know the NFL Combine was canceled due to the pandemic. Although we do not get to see all of the relevant players get their testing measurables in the same conditions, we still will get good data from the school’s Pro-Days.
