Malik Nabers – Dynasty Rookie Review

Welcome BACK to the Dynasty Trade Review HQ, your go-to source for mastering the art of Dynasty Fantasy Football trading. Dive into the depths of player valuation, league dynamics, and negotiation strategies. Let’s navigate the trade market together and hone our General Manager mindset for building our dynasty rosters.

With Week 1 on the horizon, let’s take one final look at some rookie values that could be set to explode. As rookie fever dies down from the draft, their dynasty value begins to settle, and this could be the last true buy “low” window for promising rookies. We’ve watched the BUY window slam shut on Xavier Worthy (WR-KC) this Thursday night, so let’s look at two other rookies.

Let’s look to last season, where we can see meteoric rises in dynasty value when the games matter, and players like Puka Nacua(LA-WR) and Tank Dell(HOU-WR) showed flashes in pre-season and had promising camp hype. Our rookie WR with much higher draft capital and pre-season hype is Malik Nabers (WR-NYG). Marvin Harrison Jr. (WR-ARI) was left off, as we’re assuming without overpaying, he’d be incredibly difficult to acquire due to his 1.02 ADP in rookie drafts, name recognition, and ideal landing spot. But if you can target Harrison as well with similar trades, he has a much more secure QB situation tied to Kyler Murray (QB-ARI) for his rookie contract life.

Our buy window is still open on Nabers because of uncertainty. The QB situation in New York with Daniel Jones(QB-NYG) at the helm is less than ideal, to put it politely. This creates some fear surrounding the quality of Naber’s targets for this season. While the quality of the QB play is certainly in question, Naber’s talent isn’t. He’ll be a surefire WR1 for the next few years, barring injury.

We’ll use a League Format of 12 Team SuperFlex/0.5 PPR/Start 10 as a baseline for comparing trades.

All of our above trades were taken from recent trade databases and seem like even value trades for both teams. As always, being a fair trade partner is your clearest line to getting deals done. No one likes to open the Sleeper app to find a “Malik Nabers for Quentin Johnson and 2025 Round 2 Pick” in their inbox.

If you’re in need of an RB and are in a competitive season (you’re anticipating being a top 4 team), the cross-positional trade of Nabers for Jonathon Taylor (RB-IND) seems like an ideal situation. Yes, you lose long-term value by transitioning from a young WR to a 25-year-old RB in JT, but banners fly forever. Similarly, if you’re competing, A.J Brown (WR-PHI) projects to have a top 5 WR season this year; trading the youth for current production can secure you a championship.

For our rebuilding teams, tiering down off the Nabers hype for a top-tier WR prospect like the above in Rome Odunze (WR-CHI) and Brandon Aiyuk (WR-SF) and gaining a 2025 first-round pick is ideal. You get the best of both worlds, acquiring a top 20 WR prospect in Odunze and the added liquidity of a 2025 pick.
