IDP Stock Market Weekly – Week 7

Hot Stock

LB, Blake Martinez, Green Bay Packers – Last week I had Blake as an investment option and now a week later his stock is soaring. He has forty-one tackles in the last four games and is a solid bet for double-digit tackles each week going forward. He is currently on pace for 125+ tackles on the season. Factor in the recent loss of Aaron Rodgers, which means Martinez and the Green Bay defense will be on the field even more. If he is still available, grab him up before it’s too late. Investments

CB, Jourdan Lewis, Dallas Cowboys – The Cowboys rookie corner has posted six or more tackles in three of the last four games and has a string of games that should bring him a lot of playmaking opportunities. He will have the occasional rookie bump in the road but will be a nice bye week fill in. In dynasty leagues, his value is a little higher. Investment Rating (3)

DE, Solomon Thomas, San Francisco 49ers – If you’re in need of a cheap option to fill in for a bye week or just as an upgrade, then Thomas is worth a look. He has fifteen tackles and two sacks over the last three games. He will be facing some decent offenses over the next few games, and he should continue to make plays. The 49ers will be behind in almost every game, and that means more opportunities for Thomas.  Investment Rating (3)

CB, Ken Crawley, New Orleans Saints – The Saints are a much-improved defense than they were in past seasons. They have a string of games versus heavy pass teams, and that’s what you want for your defensive backs. The more passes, the more chances for DBs to make plays. Crawley isn’t the best corner in the league and teams will test him, but he is good enough to make plays when they do. In last three games, he has fifteen tackles and five pass breakups. A cheap option for those who need bye week fill-ins.  Investment Rating (3)

Liquidate / Sell

DE, Olivier Vernon, New York Giants – One of the top talents at defensive end, when he’s healthy. That has been the problem with Vernon, as he just can’t seem to get and stay healthy. He has been ruled out again for week 7, with an ankle issue. He can be dropped in all redraft leagues, and dynasty leagues put him on IR if you can, then trade him for what you can as soon as he returns to the field. Liquidation Rating (4)

DE, Cliff Avril, Seattle Seahawks – Feel free to go ahead and drop Avril. He suffered a neck injury and has been placed on injured reserve. He is meeting with a neck specialist and is considering retirement, according to reports. He now has no value in redraft leagues and very little in dynasty formats. Liquidation Rating (5)

DE, Jonathan Allen, Washington Redskins – He suffered a lisfranc injury in week six and has been placed on injured reserve. He can be dropped in all redraft leagues but still holds some decent value in dynasty leagues, if you have the patience to sit on him while he recovers. A good candidate for taxi squad, if he is eligible in your league for that designation. Also can be stashed on IR, if you have room. Liquidation Rating (3)
