If you’re scrambling for a few Week 16 starters, desperate for a hail mary, or just reviewing your options, we have you covered. We will offer a few players our IDP team like for a big week, and a few we would avoid. Don’t get cute in your championship games this week! Start your studs and GO for it. @seahawksdan8 and I, @DFF_JohnIDP all wish you the best of luck this week.
Starts of the Week
Sean Davis, S, Pittsburgh Steelers
Loves him last week and he delivered! Championship week has arrived, and he will contribute for you again! Last week he had Tommy Brady putting the ball up, and this week, he will be counted on to shut down the Texans. I believe this game will be close and Houston will try to be balanced, which will leave the door open for another double-digit tackle game.
Akiem Hicks, DE, Chicago Bears
Consistently delivering at least 3 tackles a game he has been a steady point scorer. When he adds the sacks, he skyrockets up the stat sheet. Going against a low ranking Browns line, I like him for another sack and will take the over three on his tackles. Solid start. The Brows will try and get that run game going and once that’s slowed the Bears will bring it on the long passing downs and will get to the QB.
Deion Jones, LB, Atlanta Falcons
Last time these teams played (Atlanta and the Saints) he had 13 total tackles, 3 of them went for a loss and an INT. Once again he his speed will play a major role in defending the Saints. As your aware the Saints have. Powerful run game and their line can get the RBs into the next level clean, which will put Jones in a position to make plays one on one and he will do so. Attacking the gaps will also get those tackle for losses and I’m excited to see Jones bring home some championships this week.
Jordan Poyer, S, Buffalo Bills
Snubbed on the pro bowl and facing archrival New England, he won’t need much more motivation. A few weeks ago he had 10 total tackles, and I like him to do the same this week. The Bills will be around the ball and Poyer is always within a few steps to assist with tackles. Any balls go high he has the chance for an INT. I have started him weekly and did so with confidence in a must-win game for Buffalo.
Tre’Davious White, CB, Buffalo Bills
Yes! Another Buffalo secondary player. White and been a favorite of our IDP team since the preseason. Last time they played the Pats, White at times was tasked with covering Gronk, and it’s a matchup I expect Brady to look at often as they believe its a favorable one. Utilizing his coverage, he will get the ball put up towards him often giving plenty of tackle chances and possible another big INT.
Alec Ogletree, LB, Los Angeles Rams
If your in a league that only starts 2 LBs you might have options and do not have him locked in. He is a must start this week. Mark Barron was hurt last week, and I believe he will be out this week. This leaves Ogletree as the workhorse of that LB core, and he will need to step up and dominate for the Rams. He will. Start him!
Zach Vigil, LB, Washington Redskins
Okay, if your weak at LB tins S a solid play this week. Came in last week to produce 8 total tackles. Denver comes up next, and they are a healthy team to start LBs against. If your looking at your LB3 and 4s and scratching your head is a quality start and will put up similar stats this week.
Sits of the Week
Lawrence Timmons, LB, Miami Dolphins
If you follow along on my Bills 5 spot write-ups, you already know my feelings on him. Miami is looking ahead, and Timmons is not in those plans. The hit on his snap counts shows he will not be counted on and you do not want to have him playing for you for a ring if he is not playing enough to get stats. It’s time to move on.
Earl Thomas, S, Seattle Seahawks
Thomas may have made the Pro Bowl, but it’s the other Seahawks safety, Bradley McDougald, that is the better IDP play. Thomas is a big part of the Legion of Boom but is not a safety to carry your IDP squad. Pick up McDougald if you can instead.
