We are now in the dead zone for Fantasy Football and by all means, enjoy your cookouts and poolside adventures. Also please remember that this is the last month without NFL football. So, if your league has trades open now and you want to get away from your wife and kids, in-laws or the relatives who pop by unannounced like Cousin Eddie in Christmas Vacation, I have your escape. So, grab your phone, tablet or laptop and find a hole in the attic or crawl space and read this 8 part series of IDP Buy/Sell. If you immerse yourself into this series, you will win a lot in your IDP leagues. Now, welcome to the series that WILL take you to the promised land.
New England Patriots
Buy: Derek Rivers, Defensive End – This kid right here is going to be a monster. He has a great head on his shoulders and had 22.5 tackles for a loss at Youngstown State last year. Yes, in one year. I had the huge honor of interviewing Mr. Rivers, and he was ready to tear it up in the NFL way back in February of this year.
Sell: Dont’a Hightower, Linebacker – The Pats have been so good at the defensive line position that it has hurt their LBer production for years. I wish I could tell you to buy any of the New England LBers but I can’t. Even though Mr. Hightower is an excellent real football player, he is not an IDP must have. Sell him to one of the delusional Pats fans in your league!
Buy: Andre Branch, Defensive End – In games 10-16 last year this 6th-year vet came into his own and went on a tear. I picked him up in every league, and he helped me earn a couple of playoff spots. He will build on that outstanding finish to the year and have a great year in 2017. With Cam Wake getting up there in years and the Dolphins drafting his potential replacement in Charles Harris look for Branch to see the field more this year.
Sell: Raekwon McMillan, Linebacker – I know, I know, I am an OSU fan, and I know a lot of my readers are, but I just don’t see it. I religiously watch Buckeye football and his tackling style, to be blunt is, “grabby.” I know he is only a rookie and has a way to go, but my big gut tells me to avoid or if you did draft him, sell!
New York Jets
Buy: Leonard Williams, Muhammad Wilkerson, Defensive Line, Jamal Adams, Marcus Maye, Safeties – When J.J. Watt went down last year, Big Leonard helped me out tremendously to fill the void on my rosters. I think he will build on his best season this coming year. Wilkerson has a chip on his shoulder after gutting it out last year with an injury. I think he also goes off this year. Jamal Adams will quickly become the leading tackler on the Jets defense that will be on the field a lot. Marcus Maye will be like Frank Reynolds in “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, ” and he will pick up the scraps left over on the back end. This might be the best safety tandem in the NFL in 2018 and beyond.
Sell: Darren Lee, Linebacker – Once again I am confronted with an OSU player who I will sell because he is, in my opinion, a coverage LBer and at best an LB4 in your starting lineups. I can still see him record a respectable, 60-70 tackles. Sell him off to that OSU “Truth-er” in your league and reap the bennies!
Buy: Matt Milano, Linebacker – This high motor, quick and intense LBer out of Boston College will be a coaches, and hopefully, IDP owners dream. Some will knock him because of his size, (6 ft. 223 LBS.). Let them hate. I will snag him and let him marinate and see if he can get on the field sooner rather than later because the Bills LBer group is a *M*A*S*H* unit.
Sell: Reggie Ragland, Linebacker – The Bills defense doesn’t know where to play him. Will he man an OLB position? Will he man the middle? A lot of shuffling going on in Buffalo that will hurt, not only the real defense but will make the Bills an IDP wasteland.
