Welcome to the โFantasy Stock Up, Stock Downโ series. During this series, we will break down one player from each team whose stock is going down and whose stock is going up. Every team will be broken down before we get to the regular season. Today is all about the Denver Broncos. For more from this series, check out my latest article, as I deep dive into the Buffalo Bills.ย ย
STOCK UP – COURTLAND SUTTON
| Year | Team | Games Played | Targets | Receptions | Yards | Yards/Catch | TDs |
| 2018 | DEN | 16 | 84 | 42 | 704 | 16.8 | 4 |
| 2019 | DEN | 16 | 124 | 72 | 1,112 | 15.4 | 6 |
| 2020 | DEN | 1 | 6 | 3 | 66 | 22.0 | 0 |
| 2021 | DEN | 17 | 98 | 58 | 776 | 13.4 | 2 |
| 2022 | DEN | 15 | 109 | 64 | 829 | 13.0 | 2 |
| 2023 | DEN | 16 | 90 | 59 | 772 | 13.1 | 10 |
Even though the Broncos have addressed the wide receiver position this offseason, donโt be surprised if Courtland Sutton finishes the 2024 season as the teamโs lead receiver by a wide margin. Heโs surrounded by players that havenโt proven anything at the pro level yet. In Denverโs first official depth chart, Sutton was tabbed as the teamโs WR1 ahead of Tim Patrick, Marvin Mims, Josh Reynolds, and rookie Troy Franklin. Sutton has proven that he can serve as the teamโs WR1 even though his numbers have been a bit inconsistent over the years.ย
Heโs coming off a 2023 campaign where he only hauled in 59 of his 90 targets for 772 yards, but he did find the endzone 10 times. These numbers were good enough to land him as the WR35 in PPR leagues. He finished the season with seven top-24 finishes, as well as four top-14 finishes in 16 games played. The departure of Jerry Jeudy should open up even more opportunities for the seventh-year pro in 2024. Although he will have a new quarterback slinging him the ball, you shouldnโt be too worried. During his six years in the league, Sutton has produced while hauling in passes from nine different starting quarterbacks, including Jarrett Stidham, who is tabbed as the teamโs starter (for now).ย
When you look at Sutton and think about his future with his team, you should feel pretty confident. Heโs under contract until 2025, whereas Patrick is slated to be a free agent after this season. The other three havenโt done enough as pros to worry you in regard to Suttonโs future. Sutton is only 28, and he has a lot left in the tank. As long as he can stay healthy, he should serve as one of this teamโs outside receivers for the next couple of years. His stock isnโt high in the dynasty football world right now. If youโre a contender looking for an additional piece to go on a championship run, trading for Sutton (on the cheap) might be a smart move.ย

STOCK DOWN – MARVIN MIMS
| Year | Team | Games Played | Targets | Receptions | Yards | Yards/Catch | TDs |
| 2023 | DEN | 16 | 33 | 22 | 377 | 17.1 | 1 |
Yes, Mims looked promising when the Broncos selected him 63rd overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. Fast forward one offseason later and he ends up in the โstock downโ section. So why is that? The first reason is that he barely saw the field for Denverโs offense in 2023. In 16 games played, Mims lined up on 50 percent of the teamโs offensive snaps in just two games. This comes even though Denver needed better receiving play after Patrick missed the entire season, on top of Sutton and Jeudy failing to top 800 receiving yards each.ย
The second reason is the fact that Denver felt like they needed to address the receiver position this offseason by adding both Reynolds in free agency and Franklin in the 2024 NFL draft. Sure, Jeudy is now gone, but it will be tough for Mims to provide great fantasy production playing alongside Sutton, Franklin, Reynolds, and a now-healthy Patrick in a crowded receiving room. The reports from camp are positive surrounding Mims, but the Broncosโ first official depth chart slotted both Sutton and Patrick as starters, with Mims and Reynolds as the two backups at the wide receiver position.ย
The last reason is that this offense will be led by a new signal-caller, with Russell Wilson now playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Stidham is slotted as the starter with Zach Wilson penciled in as the teamโs backup quarterback for now. But the assumption is that rookie Bo Nix will eventually take over as the teamโs starter at some point. There are too many obstacles for Mims entering this season. He still holds a decent value in the dynasty football realm. Maybe itโs time to shop him and see what you can get out of him before it is too late. For those who still believe in Mims, it doesnโt hurt to hold on and see how the 2024 season unfolds. But donโt be surprised if Mimsโ value plummets at some point in the 2024 season.ย
