Dynasty Week 6 Reaction: Buy and Sell

Dynasty managers constantly evaluate their rosters throughout the season, determining what players to buy and who to trade or cut loose. With this, it’s time for the reaction to Week 6 of buy-and-sell within Dynasty. I’ll be analyzing veteran and rookie profiles to project current and future values, which is the key to building a successful Dynasty Fantasy Football team.ย

My buy candidates throughout the year will range from immediate help to long-term upside that could deliver consistent production for the future. Also, knowing when to trade away players at or near their peak is valuable to always infusing your roster with up-and-coming talent. So let’s dive right in and let me help you by suggesting the players that you’d be wise to buy and sell in Dynasty this week.

Buy

Garrett Wilson

Garrett Wilson is coming off of a few booming performances with over 20 fantasy points (Full-PPR) the past two weeks, finishing as WR6 in Week 5 with 22.60 (Full-PPR) fantasy points highlighted by 13 catches for 101 yards with a touchdown. Then, in Week 6, he finished as WR2 with 20.70 fantasy points, highlighted by eight catches for 107 yards with a touchdown. But Tuesday’s news of the Jets trading for Davante Adams puts a little bit of a damper on his immediate future production as the addition makes Wilson the team’s number two wide receiver and pairs Aaron Rodgers with his former friend and top weapon from their Packers days. Managers who expected Wilson to be a bona fide WR1 this season on their Dynasty Fantasy Football rosters might now be disappointed.

However, with the Jets adding Adams, there is a buy window for Dynasty Fantasy Football managers to go out and try to acquire Wilson. With the Adams trade, Wilson should see a slight decline in opportunities through the air. Wilson is currently listed as the WR12 on KeepTradeCut (KTC), but most likely, his value with the Adams trade hasn’t been adjusted. You can project a slight drop in rankings, providing a great opportunity to try to buy, for rebuilding, or contending Dynasty Fantasy Football managers in need of a star wide receiver at a cheaper price. Wilson’s overall player ranking has already dropped ten spots, so if someone is scared off by recent trade news, now is the time to see what the cost to acquire him will be. Wilson is also an appealing player because of his age, being only 24. He has one more year left on his rookie deal with the Jets, but he figures to sign an extension at some point. Quarterbacks tend to play longer nowadays, so his potential future pairing with Rodgers could last for a few more years. It is important to note that Wilson will still have plenty of value, as Adams now has a recent history of nagging injuries. It will also help him that he won’t be matched up with a defense’s top cover player, which can potentially provide him with mismatch opportunities. I expect that while both WRs are on the field, Wilson’s production might be slightly inconsistent at times. However, because of his age and talent, he provides Dynasty Football managers with a great buy-now opportunity. Buy low on Wilson now, as once the Jets show that he’s still a focal point of the offense, he’ll help your team on your championship push now and for many future years.

T.J. Hockenson

T.J. Hockenson, before the time of his injury during the 2023 season in Week 16 against the Lions, was the true TE1. Even after missing the last few weeks, he finished the year as the TE4. Now, as he nears his return after tearing his ACL and MCL, the Vikings have emerged as one of the biggest surprises of this season. They have the number seven-ranked scoring offense, which will now add another weapon to their arsenal shortly. Hockenson could return any week now, and reports are that he’s healthy and moving around well. He should return to the elite tight-end status he previously held, especially because of how productive the Vikings have been on offense. Dynasty Fantasy Football managers are always scoping the landscape for tight ends, as it’s typically such a tough position to find consistent production, making Hockenson so valuable. Hockenson is currently listed as the TE5 on KeepTradeCut (KTC), which presents a great opportunity to try to buy him a little lower before he has a few big games and his price rises. Hockenson is also in the first year of a four-year contract worth 66 million, confirming his position is extremely secure in a high-powered offense led by Sam Darnold, who’s looked very good with the Vikings. They also have the potential of the tenth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, J.J. McCarthy, to be in the mix for the starting quarterback position in the future. This now looks to be a deep quarterback room for one of the top pass-catching options on the Vikings.ย

Once Hockenson returns, there should be no doubt that, within a few games, his production will return to his norms. So whether you’re a rebuilding or contending Dynasty Fantasy Football manager, now is the time to buy Hockenson, as that window is closing fast for one of the true stars of the tight end position. Act now before time runs out.

Sell

Najee Harris

Najee Harris had his best game of his season in Week 6 as he had fourteen carries for 106 yards and a touchdown while adding two catches on two targets for 16 yards. He had a long run of 36 yards and two red zone rushing attempts as he finished the week with 19.20 fantasy points (Full-PPR) and as the RB10. Jaylen Warren also returned after missing the past two weeks, but he didn’t factor too much into the game yet, as he had only six carries on seven yards while adding three catches on three targets for 11 yards. So, as the Steelers begin to work Warren back into the fold, now is the time to sell Harris. Harris only had a slight edge in snaps, with 46%, compared to Warren’s 37%. What was most interesting, though, was that it was his best game of the season, and he had the fewest snaps since Week 2. One might think this might be the start of Harris’ turnaround, but I look at it as an outlier as the schedule for the Steelers gets tougher in the second half of the season. If they’re trailing in those games, it will force them to rely more on the pass, favoring Warren more with his better pass-catching ability.ย

Since Harris’ rookie season, he hasn’t been the same player and has lacked the burst that’s important to have at the running back position. He’s currently listed as the RB34 on KeepTradeCut (KTC), which presents an opportunity to sell him before he reverts to his early-season typical lackluster production. Harris’ production is consistently in the eight-to-twelve fantasy points range, so he’s likely not a player who will win your league for you. Additionally, the uncertainty of his future is something to consider. Before the season started, the Steelers also declined Harris’ fifth-year option that all first-round picks have, which made him a free agent at the end of the season. I’d personally look to sell him now to another contending Dynasty manager who needs running back production and believes that the former 24th overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft has more tread left on the tires to rejuvenate himself and once again become a top Dynasty Fantasy Football running back.ย

Deebo Samuelย

Another player who had a strong performance in Week 6 was Deebo Samuel, who led the 49ers passing attack with three catches on five targets for 102 yards and a touchdown. His target share was a red flag, however. This past week was his largest output of the season, finishing as WR6 with 23.30 fantasy points (Full-PPR), but most of his production came on a 76-yard touchdown reception showcasing his game-changing ability. So far this season, 49ers receivers have had inconsistent production, besides star tight end George Kittle. Both wide receivers, Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, have had poor to inconsistent outputs. Throughout the rest of this season, it doesn’t appear that Samuel will have consistent production unless there’s an injury, and with Christian McCaffrey rumored to be back in the next few weeks, McCaffrey projects to take a large chunk of the production in the 49ers offense again moving forward.ย

The big fantasy game from Deebo sets up an opportunity to sell the twenty-eight-year-old receiver high. Samuel is currently listed as the WR31 on KeepTradeCut (KTC), which presents a great opportunity to try to sell him after a big game before he disappoints again. Another reason long-term Samuel is a sell for me is the Aiyuk contract extension. The 49ers can’t afford to pay everyone, and they have already had contract issues trying to figure out a way to keep their team together. On top of all this, the 49ers will soon have to pay quarterback Brock Purdy, as he’s in his second to last year on his rookie contract. The uncertain future of the 49ers’ cap situation could force them to part with some key players at some point. On top of that, Samuel only has one more year on his contract, making it easier for the team to cut or trade him, creating additional cap room to sign other players. With his uncertain future, Samuel is a sell for me. Now is a prime opportunity to move him before others realize his production isn’t matching the name on the back of his uniform. So look now to sell Samuel to another contending Dynasty manager who needs immediate wide receiver production.ย

Conclusion

As the football season quickly moves along, don’t let your league catch you sleeping, as it’ll cost you in the standings. Buy and sell these players now to build your long-lasting championship-caliber Dynasty Fantasy Football roster.
