Dynasty Week 2 Reaction: Buy and Sell

Dynasty managers are constantly evaluating their rosters throughout the season, determining which players to buy and who to trade or cut loose. With this, it’s time for my reaction to Week 2 and my buys and sells within Dynasty. I’ll be analyzing veteran and rookie profiles to project future values, which is the key to building a successful Dynasty Fantasy Football team.

My buy candidates throughout the year will range from immediate help to long-term upside that could deliver consistent production for the future. Also, knowing when to trade away players at or near their peak is valuable for always infusing your roster with up-and-coming talent. So, let’s dive right in, and let me help you by suggesting the players that you’d be wise to buy and sell in Dynasty this week.

Buy

Jayden Reed

Coming into the season, there was a lot of uncertainty about who would be the Packers’ WR1. In Week 1, Jayden Reed proved to be that guy in the Sao Paulo game in Brazil. He finished the game with four catches on six targets for 138 yards and one touchdown. His stock was about to soar as he proved to be Jordan Love‘s top pass catcher, but then came Love’s injury within the last few seconds of the game. Many are worried about the Packers’ quarterback situation with Malik Willis taking over, and this past week, Reed finished with only two catches on two targets for 9 yards. Going forward, until Love returns, all pass catchers within the Packers offense are downgraded. Love is considered week-to-week and will likely return sooner rather than later, as the Packers haven’t put him on injured reserve.

With the Packers’ uncertainty at quarterback, now is the window to buy Reed low in the next week or two, as the Packers will likely be very run-heavy for the time being. He’s also tied to Love, who’s proven to be an elite asset, as he’s still on his rookie contract, making him even more appealing. Reed is currently listed as the WR23 on KeepTradeCut (KTC), which presents an excellent buy-low value. Look at options to acquire Reed, as he looked like the Packers’ top wide receiver, and you can stash him on your bench until Love returns. It’s easy to forget about Reed’s elite performance in Week 1, so take advantage of the overreaction and try to acquire him now while you still might be able to.

Dalton Kincaid

Dalton Kincaid’s performances in the first two weeks of the season have everyone in the Dynasty Fantasy Football community feeling a little uneasy. Still, the same could be said about most tight ends so far. In Week 1, he finished with only one catch and two targets for 11 yards and followed that up with another disappointing performance in Week 2, as he only had four catches on four targets for 33 yards. But I’m looking at Kincaid’s value with the glass half full. There are positives to his performance, and two weeks is a bit early to hit the panic button. In Week 2, Kincaid had a 21% target share, showing that the Bills were trying to incorporate him more into their plans after a down performance the first week of the season. In Week 1, the Cardinals seemed to focus on Kincaid and did a good job of taking him away as a weapon for Josh Allen, and then the second game of the year against Miami got out of hand quickly, presenting a more run-heavy game plan afterward.

It would be wise to buy low on Kincaid before he has a few blow-up games. He’s currently listed as the TE5 on KeepTradeCut (KTC), and he’s dropped twenty-one spots on their overall player rating tool, presenting the opportunity to try to buy him. Last year, Kincaid showed that he’s a central part of the Bills’ offense, finishing as the TE11 (Full-PPR) after he began making most of his impact beginning mid-season. I’d bet that he settles, and his production begins to take off. He also is tied to Allen for at least two more seasons after this year, as he’s still on his rookie contract. Buy Kincaid now, as once he gets back on track, he will be a focal point of this offense once again and help your team on your championship push.

Sell

diggs

Stefon Diggs

In Week 1, Stefon Diggs caught a touchdown and boomed with six catches on six targets for 33 yards and a touchdown. But in Week 2, his production failed to meet expectations, as Diggs finished with four catches on six targets for 37 yards. Looking closely at his role within the Texans’ offense, Diggs clearly shows he’s an easy sell. Diggs is popular within Dynasty Fantasy Football because of his name and what he’s done in the past, so I would use this as a time to sell him. In both weeks, he was out-targeted and outgained in terms of yards by Nico Collins, who has proven he’s the Texans’ true WR1. Collins is operating as the clear alpha, with Tank Dell being used as a big-play threat, and Diggs is mainly soaking up the underneath targets. Diggs’ 1.7-yard aDot ranked him 108th among 116 wide receivers who saw a target in Week 2. This is not the role you’d want for a wide receiver in an offense where he’s already fighting for targets, which will make his long-term consistency tough to predict.

I would take this time to use Diggs’ name recognition as a time to sell. He also only signed with the Texans on what’s considered a one-year deal, as the team wiped out the final three years on his contract, allowing him to become a free agent at the end of the season. This provides some uncertainty to Diggs’ future, which is not ideal in Dynasty. He’s currently listed as the WR39 on KeepTradeCut (KTC), and it would be a perfect time to sell before his value drops further. Now presents a great chance to sell Diggs to a contending manager needing wide receiver help.

Chuba Hubbard

The end of the road for Panthers’ running back Chuba Hubbard’s starting role looks to be drawing near. Hubbard had a very underwhelming performance in Week 1, with only six rushes on 14 yards and no receiving work. However, in Week 2, he had 10 carries for 64 yards while adding four catches on five targets for 12 yards receiving. If Hubbard’s on your roster, this is the perfect opportunity to trade him away for a bit of value before rookie and 46th-overall pick Jonathon Brooks makes his anticipated debut in a few weeks. It isn’t yet clear when Brooks will return from the PUP list after tearing his ACL in his final season at Texas. However, it can be assumed that Brooks, the first running back taken in the NFL Draft, will be the Panthers’ top running back once he returns.

It’s reasonable to expect that Hubbard’s role will dramatically decrease once Brooks is back, so selling Hubbard now after a much-improved performance this past week is the best option for your Dynasty Fantasy Football team. He’s currently listed as the RB52 on KeepTradeCut (KTC), and this might be one of your last opportunities to sell before his value plummets. So look now to sell Hubbard to another contending Dynasty manager who might have suffered some injuries and needs immediate running back help.

Conclusion

As the football season quickly moves along, don’t let your league catch you sleeping, as it’ll cost you in the standings. Buy and sell these players now to build your long-lasting championship-caliber Dynasty Fantasy Football roster.
