Dynasty Week 13 Reaction: Buy & Sell

Dynasty managers constantly evaluate their rosters throughout the season, determining what players to buy and who to trade or cut loose. With this, it’s time for the reaction to Week 13 of buy-and-sell within Dynasty. I’ll be analyzing veteran and rookie profiles to project future values, which is the key to building a successful Dynasty Fantasy Football team.ย

My buy candidates throughout the year will range from immediate help to long-term upside that could deliver consistent production for the future. Also, knowing when to trade away players at or near their peak is valuable to infusing your roster with up-and-coming talent. Let’s dive right in, and let me help you by suggesting the players that you’d be wise to buy and sell in Dynasty this week.

Buy

Michael Penix Jr.ย

Many around Atlanta are calling for a quarterback change with the season-long disappointment that the Falcons’ free agent addition Kirk Cousins has had after signing a four-year deal for $180M. While that most likely won’t happen this year, as the team is in the midst of a playoff chase, it does bring up the question of the Falcons trying to move on from Cousins after the season. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recently reported that “the next six games could determine a lot about Cousins’ future.” This report comes on the heels of a three-game losing streak that has allowed the Buccaneers to catch them for a first-place tie in the NFC South. In the last three weeks, Cousins has thrown zero touchdown passes and has six interceptions, four of which came this past Sunday against the Chargers. He’s QB20 (Full-PPR) on the season, and he’s been a huge letdown for a team with Super Bowl aspirations. There is an opportunity for the Falcons to move on from him in the offseason. If they decide to go that route with Cousins, they would be saddled with $37.5 million of dead cap in 2025, but they would have over $146 million in cap space for the 2026 season. All this chaos only adds to the fire that the Falcons drafted a quarterback very high in this year’s past draft. Michael Penix Jr. was selected in the first-round pick (8th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft from the University of Washington.ย

While Penix Jr. has only played briefly late in two games this season, he was impressive in the preseason, where he completed nine of sixteen passes for 104 yards. He was drafted as high as he was for his success in college and arm strength. In 2022, Penix Jr. passed for 4,641 yards and had 31 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. In 2023, when he was a Heisman trophy finalist, he passed for 4,903 yards with 36 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Penix Jr. is a great buy in Dynasty Fantasy Football because of the potential that he projects as the Falcons starting quarterback by next year, if not sooner, with the rate that Cousins is playing. The Falcons also have an assortment of weapons around whoever the quarterback is, led by Bijan Robinson, Drake London, Darnell Mooney, and Kyle Pitts. Penix Jr. is in the first year of his four-year rookie contract, so he’s expected to be with the Falcons for the long term. On KeepTradeCut (KTC), he’s currently listed as the QB21, so now is the time to try to acquire a talented player who’s expected to be the Falcons’ starting quarterback sooner rather than later. He’s a great value buy, and within the Falcons offense, he has the potential to be a top-ten passing quarterback. When Penix takes over, he’ll be one of the main reasons your future contending team is going deep into the Dynasty Fantasy Football playoffs and pushing for the championship.ย

Xavier Legetteย

In Dynasty Fantasy Football rookie drafts this past year, Xavier Legette was seen mostly as a mid-round selection in Dynasty rookie drafts, which had upside but also came with some risk. But those who selected him have started seeing signs that he could, with a little more time and seasoning, project as the WR1 they had hoped. Some of this also has to do with the fact that starting quarterback Bryce Young has looked a lot better since his benching earlier in the season. Legette needs to improve his route running, but based on his size at 6’1″ and 221 pounds and his 4.39 speed, Legette has shown encouraging glimpses. When given an opportunity, he has produced, which was highlighted in Week 4 when he finished as the WR13 (Full-PPR) with six receptions on ten targets for 66 yards and one touchdown. Throughout the year, he has had a few drops that should’ve been reeled in, but watching his highlights this year, you can see that the rookie has potential.ย

The first-round pick (32nd overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft from the University of South Carolina is operating right now as the Panthers’ WR2 behind Adam Thielen after the trade of Diontae Johnson. However, considering that Thielen is entering the final year of his contract next season and will be 35 years old, the Panthers will likely choose to part ways with him. If they do, Legette would be the Panthers’ number one receiver as he projects to be in the future. Legette is in the first year of his four-year rookie deal and figures to be with the Panthers long-term, as they’re not deep at wide receiver. On KeepTradeCut (KTC), he’s currently listed as the WR40, so now is the time to try to acquire a talented player who’s expected shortly to be the Panthers’ WR1 in an offense recently showing signs of life. The Panthers are a young team, and with their offensive improvements recently, Legette is a very intriguing and great buy-low addition. He has the potential to help carry many managers to championships in future years as he’s starting to find his footing with the Panthers and could very easily break out next year.

Sell

jeudy

Jerry Jeudyย

Jerry Jeudy is one of the most productive players and fastest risers in the past few weeks in Dynasty Fantasy Football. He’s coming off his best performance of the year in Week 13, where he finished as the WR1 with 40.00 fantasy points (Full-PPR). In this matchup against a stingy Broncos defense, he had nine receptions on thirteen targets for 235 yards and one touchdown. On the season Jeudy is WR14 (Full-PPR) and has become a great sell-high candidate for a rebuilding Dynasty manager. Jameis Winston‘s gunslinger mentality has given the Browns offense life after Deshaun Watson‘s season-ending Achilles injury. While Cedric Tillman did miss this past game after not clearing the concussion protocol and is expected back soon, Jeudy is still producing recently at a very impressive level, as he has over ten fantasy points each of the past five weeks.ย ย

I would look to sell Jeudy to a Dynasty Fantasy Football Manager who needs immediate help at wide receiver and who hopes to make a championship push. Jeudy is currently listed as the WR44 on KeepTradeCut (KTC). His production has far exceeded this, and you should be able to get a second-round pick from a contending manager based on how Jeudy has performed since Winston took over the starting quarterback job. Additionally, before the season, Jeudy signed a three-year extension with the Browns worth fifty-two million, so he is expected to stay with the Browns for the long term. As a rebuilding manager, Jeudy is the perfect sell-high candidate, especially as the Browns’ quarterback outlook for next year is murky. They still have Watson under contract, but they also project to have a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and one would think they’d be looking to draft a young quarterback. Winston is an option to return to the team as well, but he’s currently only on a one-year contract. I’d look to sell Jeudy now because, as a rebuilding Dynasty manager, he might never be hotter than he’s been recently. The return you get can help restock your Dynasty Fantasy Football roster for a future-contending team.ย

Isaac Guerendoย

In Week 13, the 49ers suffered injuries to their top two running backs, superstar Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason, both of whom were placed on injured reserve. These injuries now open the door for rookie Isaac Guerendo. Guerendo, a fourth-round pick (129th overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft from the University of Louisville, shined at the NFL Combine, showing off his 4.33 speed and size at 6 ‘0″, 221 pounds. Guerendo is an athletic specimen, as he posted a Relative Athletic Score of 9.97. But most impressively, this was one of the five best RAS scores recorded by a running back since 1987. To back this up, during his final year of college, he had 132 carries for 810 yards and 11 touchdowns while adding 22 catches for 234 yards. Additionally, he’s a perfect fit in the Kyle Shanahan offense. However, McCaffrey still projects to be the RB1 in 2025, and there are no guarantees that Guerendo will even be the RB2. Now is the time to trade him to a contending Dynasty Fantasy Football manager when his value is highest.ย

In redraft leagues, Guerendo is being looked at as a league winner, which is why, unless you’re a contender, all rebuilding Dynasty Fantasy Football managers need to be looking to sell high on Guerendo. Next year, when the 49ers figure to have McCaffrey back, they could also look to re-sign Mason as a backup. This is unless they look at younger running backs in what’s considered a loaded 2025 NFL Draft class. Guerendo is in the first year of his four-year rookie contract, and he’s currently listed as the RB36 on KeepTradeCut (KTC), but as an RB1, his actual value will be higher than this. When looking to sell high on him, I’d first target the McCaffrey owner, who might also have Mason as the handcuff, as you’ll probably find that manager will be willing to pay up the most for him. But any contending manager that could use help at running back should be interested in Guerendo, especially with hopes of winning now. Sell Guerendo now while he’s a lead running back on a run-first team before the 49ers get their hands on an upcoming rookie from this year’s loaded class to be McCaffrey’s long-term handcuff or eventual replacement.ย

Conclusion

As the football season quickly moves along, don’t let your league catch you sleeping, as it’ll cost you in the standings. Buy and sell these players now to build your long-lasting championship-caliber Dynasty Fantasy Football roster.
