Dynasty Waiver Stashes

Dynasty waivers are just as important in the offseason as they are during the season, and using them is a way to stay ahead of your competition. Even if you don’t have an offseason FAAB budget, you can still make zero-dollar waiver claims to pick up players with enough upside to stash on your bench. Here are my favorite players that are rostered in less than 55% of Sleeper leagues and can be picked up for free.

Drew Lock (QB – NYG)

Drew Lock is one of my favorite stashes in Superflex Dynasty. As we all know, QBs are king in this format, and rostering a few backups, even if they’re not starting, is a smart idea. Lock signed a one-year deal with the Giants for $5M. Daniel Jones (QB – NYG) struggled last season and has been written off by a lot of managers, so much so that people forget he’s coming off an ACL tear and may be rusty heading into the 2024 season. Lock may see the field early and it wouldn’t surprise me if he was able to beat out Jones entirely if he doesn’t improve. Even if you don’t plan on starting Drew Lock, you should still pick him up with the hopes that he starts at least one game for the Giants so you can sell him to another manager who needs a starting QB. Lock is rostered in 50% of Sleeper leagues.

Justice Hill (RB – BAL)

I can’t get enough of Justice Hill in Dynasty. The Baltimore Ravens lost J.K. Dobbins (RB – LAC) and Gus Edwards (RB – LAC) to Free Agency, and Keaton Mitchell (RB – BAL) will miss a major part of the season with ACL tear recovery. The Ravens also signed Derrick Henry (RB – BAL) this offseason, who will clearly get the bulk of the work in a run-heavy offense but has limited depth behind him. Rookie RB Rasheen Ali was drafted in the 5th round, but is already battling an injury (biceps) and will take some time to learn the offense. If Henry is to miss time, Justice could be in an extremely lucrative position. Hill is entering his 6th season with the Ravens and has averaged an impressive 4.6 yards per carry throughout his career. He will be the primary backup to Derrick Henry and is rostered in 54% of Sleeper leagues.

Jameis Winston (QB – CLE)

I have always thought Jameis Winston deserved another opportunity to start in the NFL, but most coaches have disagreed with me so far. However, I think Winston is primed for his best opportunity yet since his QB4 overall season in 2019. Winston signed a 1-year deal with the Cleveland Browns and has been reported to be the primary backup to Deshaun Watson (QB – CLE). Watson is coming off a season-ending shoulder injury and may not start participating in team drills until July. It seems like the Browns are taking it slow and as with an injury, especially a shoulder for a QB, there is the risk of re-injury. Joe Flacco (QB – IND) signed with the Colts this offseason and averaged 21.8 fantasy points per game in Watson’s absence. In the current situation, Winston is in a prime backup position and is only rostered in 46% of Sleeper leagues.

Colby Parkinson (TE – LAR)

Parkinson is flying under the radar, yet he may finally be a viable starting tight end in 2024. He signed a 3-year $22.5M contract with the Rams which is no small amount of money. Despite the fact he hasn’t produced on the Seahawks, finishing at TE37 in his best season, I think he may have the opportunity in this LA offense. This is the first time he tops a depth chart at his position, as Tyler Higbee is still dealing with ACL recovery and will likely miss a good portion of the 2024 season. In 2022, Higbee had over 100 targets from Matthew Stafford (QB – LAR) and finished as the TE6, and Parkinson may be getting the bulk of the targets while Higbee recovers. Colby is rostered in only 48% of Sleeper leagues.

Andrei Iosivas (WR – CIN)

Iosivas tested well at the Combine in 2023, posting a Relative Athletic Score (RAS) of 9.92, running a 4.43 40-yard dash, and having a 39” vertical. He was not heavily utilized last season, having only 25 targets, but he flashed when he got his chance. Andrei caught 4 TDs on only 15 receptions. I’m not sold on the volume with the addition of rookie WR Jermaine Burton in the 3rd round, but there are rumors that the Bengals and Tee Higgins (WR – CIN) are not close to a contract agreement, and we could see him on a new team sooner rather than later. At 6’3” and over 200 lbs, Andrei has potential in this offense and is only rostered in 48% of Sleeper leagues.

Johnny Mundt (TE – MIN)

The Vikings need to start someone at the tight end position as TJ Hockenson (TE – MIN) will miss a part of this season with a torn ACL. Johnny Mundt is likely the freest player on this list but is still worth a bench stash, especially in tight-end premium scoring. Mundt had a brief opportunity at the end of last season and managed to have 97 yards on 9 catches in the final two games, along with a touchdown. Teammate Josh Oliver (TE – MIN) receiving a contract is for blocking, in my opinion, as his role didn’t change much after T.J. went down with an injury. Mundt may be the Vikings’ top pass-catching TE on the team and is rostered in only 4% of Sleeper leagues.
