DT Dynasty Tiers

I’ve got a Dynasty Startup Auction beginning in early January, so I put together Dynasty #IDP tiers for each position except CB, because, c’mon… Hopefully, nobody from the Shark Tank reads this.

* = designates soon-to-be UFA

Word of Warning: I’m not a ranker. I’m the Snap Count guy. You should probably just ignore these tiers. Also, I have a strict rule on my fantasy teams that I won’t roster players that have backgrounds of Domestic Violence. I didn’t even include Reuben Foster, because no one should roster Foster. Frank Clark and others are on here as I would rank them breaking my rule. This is solely so I can throw them out early in the auction, with no intention of winning them, just to get some money off the board.

Big Man on Campus

Buckner, DeForest SFO

Reed, Jarran SEA

Clark, Kenny GBP

Cox, Fletcher PHI

Jarrett, Grady ATL*

Atkins, Geno CIN

These are your studs at DT. Special shout-out to Clark who is the sole 3-4 NT here. In general, 3-4 NTs play fewer snaps than 4-3 DTs and obviously get fewer chances to put together stats. Is there a better bounceback defense than Atlanta? If they get healthy, they could be back to a Top 10 defense. It’s hard to see Atlanta letting Jarrett walk considering the rest of the depth chart behind Jarrett. Reed has broken out this year with his pass rush, going from 3.0 sacks across his first two seasons, to 8.5 sacks in his third season.

Harrison, Damon DET

Rankins, Sheldon NOS

Ogunjobi, Larry CLE

Suh, Ndamukong LAR*

Snacks would be a lot higher depending on scoring. In leagues that really bump up DT Sack scoring, he takes a hit. That said, he’s got more sacks in 10 games in Detroit than in any other season. Rankins and Ogunjobi have both broken out this season. Next year, either could move into the tier above. It’ll be interesting to see if Suh stays in LA or relocates.

Prove It

Autry, Denico IND

Nkemdiche, Robert ARI

Hunt, Margus IND*

These three guys all broke out this season after multiple down seasons to start their careers. It remains to be seen if this season will be considered a fluke for each player or the start of something new. Nkemdiche was also benched for a game this season, so of the three, I’m not putting my money on him. There’s an outside chance Hunt sees a position switch to DE this offseason.

The Best is Yet to Come

Payne, Da’Ron WAS

Hurst, Maurice OAK

Vea, Vita TBB

Hand, Da’Shawn DET

Hall, P.J. OAK

Phillips, Harrison BUF

Senat, Deadrin ATL

Nnadi, Derrick KCC

Payne may already be a DT1, but we likely haven’t seen his ceiling yet. Hand should see a position switch to DE this offseason. Hand should also see more snaps next season without Ezekiel Ansah. Senat would be the guy to step up if Jarrett signs elsewhere. Phillips could see more opportunities with Kyle Williams’ retirement. Nnadi was comped to Snacks before the draft. That’s always worth watching.

Short, Kawann CAR

Richardson, Sheldon MIN*

Liuget, Corey LAC

McCoy, Gerald TBB

Hargrave, Javon PIT

Goldman, Eddie CHI

McCoy had a down season as he approaches his 31st birthday. His matched last season’s sack total but his tackle numbers are down. Richardson is worth watching in free agency. He has had success as a 3-4 DE. Hargrave had a couple of blow-up games while Stephon Tuitt was out injured. Tuitt gets injured every year…

No Thank Yous

Crawford, Jack ATL

Taylor, Vincent MIA

Joseph, Linval MIN

Crawford, Tyrone DAL

Robinson, A’Shawn DET

Peters, Corey ARI*

Gunter, Rodney ARI*

Johnson, Tom MIN*

Philon, Darius LAC*

Mebane, Brandon LAC*

Spence, Akeem MIA DT

Onyemata, David NOS

Guy, Lawrence NEP

Godchaux, Davon MIA

Billings, Andrew CIN

Collins, Maliek DAL

Jackson, Malik JAC

Williams, Xavier KCC

Jefferson, Quinton SEA*

Square, Damion LAC*

Reader, D.J. HOU

Jones, Abry JAC

McDonald, Clinton OAK*

Dareus, Marcell JAC

Hankins, Johnathan OAK

Woods, Antwaun DAL*

Coley, Trevon CLE

Mclendon, Steve NYJ*

Peko, Domata DEN*

Jean-Francois, Ricky DET

Pierce, Michael BAL

Phillips, Jordan BUF*

Davison, Tyeler NOS*

Brown, Malcolm NEP*

Butler, Adam NEP

Stephen, Shamar SEA

Dunn, Brandon HOU

Johnson, Austin TEN

Not much to say here. Jefferson is worth a quick note. He’s been playing DE for SEA so he’ll likely see a position change this offseason. That said, he hasn’t produced as a DT getting DE snaps. Some people have talked up Godchaux as a potential breakout, but it certainly hasn’t happened yet.
