Countdown to College Football: #16

Believe it or not, we are only 16 days away from kicking off the 2017 college football season. It’s time to start making plans for that opening weekend watch party. We are in the final stretch, but as we get closer to August 26th, the days are starting to drag by. We might as well do something to pass the time so let’s continue our look at our consensus Top 25 Devy prospects with our 16th ranked player – Royce Freeman

Name: Royce Freeman
School: Oregon
Position: RB
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 238 lbs
Class: Senior

Overall: 16
Positional: 7
2018 Class: 13

Royce Freeman’s game is pretty simple. He’s an NFL-sized running back with great vision and good footwork. He’s a respectable weapon in the passing game. While not elusive in the traditional sense, he consistently forces missed tackles in the open field. While all of that is what you want to see in a running back, Freeman turns most people off because he lacks explosiveness. With that, he lacks a sustained burst and long speed.

He’s put together a pretty incredible career at Oregon and he turned down a shot at the NFL to play one more season, his senior season, under new Head Coach Willie Taggart.
