After looking over our ADP, I found three LBs I will be looking to acquire. These players will outperform their ADP and leave you feeling good on game day. Also, with many leagues facing roster cut downs, you might want to make an offer and see what happens.
Darron Lee, New York Jets It’s time to take advantage of those who are still hung up on last season’s performance. It’s a new season and time to look at what we have to look forward to this year. In his two preseason games, he has looked like the draft pick the Jets were expecting. Just like a QB, or TE, a young LB coming into the NFL needs a little time to learn the speed of the game. With an off season under his belt, he looks like he understands where he needs to be and gets there much quicker. Currently drafted as the LB 40 I can see him jumping up to the next tier. Start him as your LB 3, and you’ll reap the rewards. Lastly, the Jets defense could be left on the field often and facing more rushing attempts if they fall behind often.
Joe Schobert, Cleveland Browns Next man up in the dog pound. Tank Carder is out for the year, and Joe Schobert will be called upon to jump into the middle of that Browns defense. Plays the position like a point guard in basketball, his feet never stop moving. Additionally, he gets a good jump on the ball which allows him to shoot the interior gaps. Also, when he makes contact, you can hear the collision in the upper deck. Guy sets a tone!
Schobert will not be on the field in passing downs but, if needed he will not be a liability in pass defense. If covering a TE, he will hold his own. So, Schobert is a good option for a player that will rack up a few tackles weekly for your team. In deep roster leagues, these players can make a difference for you. Currently, he is available on your waiver wire.
Whitney Mercilus, Houston Texans This guy is drafted (if at all) as an LB 6. With a healthy J.J. Watt returning and Jadeveon Clowney creating havoc, he will find himself with more one on one matchups. He has proven to be able to turn those opportunities into sacks and hurries. Additionally, I can see 50 tackles and ten sacks within reach for him. This top tier defense will dominate, and all on this unit will share the stats. For a $1 on your blind bidding waivers or a late draft pick, he can help contribute to your IDP squads.
So, get after your roster management and prepare for this season gang. We only have a short window left before we start playing for real. Good luck and hit me up @DFF_JohnIDP
