In our recent Twitter/X poll conducted on @DynastyReviewHQ, this trade fell in favor of the Kyler Murray side. There are quite a few heavy-hitting pieces flying around in the DFF Civil War League. Nothing feels quite as good as smashing accept and getting the league chat buzzing.

Player Valuations

Team A is receiving Trey McBride (TE-ARI), Trey Benson, Tee Higgins (WR-CIN), and Kyler Murray (QB-ARI). McBride (TE-ARI), a mid-season tight end breakout, offers significant upside with his receiving game, and who doesn’t love a stack with Kyler Murray (QB-ARI). Trey Benson is projected to be one of the top running backs in this year’s draft. If he lands a prime landing spot, such as the Dallas Cowboys, he can be an impact player for a roster right away. Tee Higgins (WR-CIN) brings consistency as a high-end WR2 to our roster. Higgins (WR-CIN) also comes with the upside that he can potentially become a WR1 if he moves to a team lacking an alpha and receives the requisite target volume. The crown jewel of Team A’s haul is Kyler Murray (QB-ARI). Coming off his ACL tear injury lasy season, Murray was slow to start and was undervalued across leagues. The buying window seems to have slammed shut in most leagues with the buzz of Marvin Harrison Jr. potentially becoming an Arizona Cardinal.

Team B is flag-planting on the younger players in the league. It’s “get your guy, call your shot” season here. Team B receives J.J. McCarthy, Bijan Robinson (RB-ATL), Brock Bowers, and Tyler Allgeier (RB-ATL). J.J. McCarthy has been gaining a ton of draft buzz in the last month, with the popular landing spot of Minnesota. If he gets this draft capital and landing spot, he will arguably have the second best landing spot of all the rookie QBs. With targets like Justin Jefferson (WR-MIN), and Jordan Addison (WR-MIN) to throw to, he will be set up to contribute immediately.

Bijan Robinson (RB-ATL) was drafted at 1.01 across most leagues last year. He may have disappointed some managers, but still managed to have a great rookie season, despite Arthur Smith’s best attempts at not getting him the ball. Bijan (RB-ATL) is a running back with all the talent primed to make a run at RB1 overall if he is featured in the new look Atlanta Falcons offense.

Brock Bowers is the most highly touted TE prospect since Kyle Pitts (TE-ATL). He is an offensive weapon that should make an impact on fantasy teams, depending on the TE scoring format in leagues and his potential landing spot. If a team uses his receiving ability correctly, he can be a top 3 TE. But if he lands with a less imaginative offensive coordinator and isn’t utilized properly, his value could fall quickly, much like Kyle Pitt’s (TE-ATL) in the last few years. Tyler Allgeier (RB-ATL) brings value as the injury handcuff to Bijan Robinson (RB-ATL). If he fills in for Bijan, he is a solid RB2.

Roster Construction and Flexibility

For Team A, the trade brings a mix of established talent and youthful promise. Kyler Murray (QB-ARI) stands as a cornerstone quarterback around whom to build, while the addition of McBride (TE-ARI), Benson, and Higgins (WR-CIN) offers depth and potential. These are every-week starters. This influx of talent provides Team A with flexibility in roster construction, allowing them to shore up weaknesses and capitalize on emerging opportunities.

Team B gains youthful assets with tons of potential. With McCarthy at the helm and Robinson anchoring the backfield, Team B gains a locked-in RB1 and a solid QB2 in J.J. McCarthy if he obtains a solid landing spot. Paired with the upside most draft analysts are giving Brock Bowers, we could potentially have a top 2 receiving TE slotted into our lineup. This is the foundation to construct a formidable dynasty roster.

This trade is a great example of targeting different roster needs for each team. Overall, value-wise, I tend to lean toward sure assets. I’ll take the upside of a Kyler Murray (QB-ARI)/McBride (TE-ARI) stack and collect the sure assets. But I certainly can’t fault a manager who wants to collect the incoming rookies in a highly touted class. Especially when they lock in one of the top 3 RBs in the league as well. This trade is great for both sides, depending on roster needs.
