9 Bold-ish Predictions: Dynasty Edition

Experts are shooting off predictions left and right so I thought I would have some fun with it myself. Even though they are labeled “bold” as a headline, many times these predictions are par for the course. So here are my “bold-ish” predictions, some may be off the wall while some not so much. Enjoy!

  1. Saquon Barkley will be the RB1…

This may be shocking considering the number of high level RBs we currently have in the league, but I believe Barkley is THAT good. Currently, Barkley’s ADP is in the top 10, which is already an amazing feat considering he hasn’t played a regular season game. I foresee him having a fantastic rookie season in an offense centered around him. Barkley is an excellent runner and adds in pass catching ability, giving him a huge ceiling and will make him the most coveted RB in dynasty after just one year.

  1. Davante Adams will be a top 5 WR…

Davante Adams finished 2017 as a top 20 WR posting up 74 rec, over 800 yards, and 10 TDs. This all being done in only 14 games, with other veteran WR competition, and without the top QB in football for the entire season. Adams has proven to be extremely talented and is only 25 years old. With a full season with Rodgers, he could easily amass 1,200 yards and double digit TDs as the main target in the Packers offense. Doing so would catapult Adams into the upper tier of WRs in dynasty.

  1. Derrick Henry will be a top 10 RB asset…

Derrick Henry was a highly rated prospect coming out of Alabama but has spent his first two seasons behind another veteran back waiting for his time. Still he was able to run the ball for over 700 yards and 5 TDs.  Now, Henry is set to be the main ball carrier for the Titans and is surrounded by talented young teammates with an excellent offensive line. With an increase in workload, Henry is poised for an increase in production which should land him in the top 10 for RBs.

  1. Courtland Sutton will be a top 20 WR asset…

This one could be more unreachable than the others, simply because there are so many quality WRs in the dynasty realm at the moment. But Sutton is an extremely athletic, prototypical-sized wide out that is just scratching the surface of the WR position. He also landed on a team with a wide receiver group that will allow him to learn quickly which will help speed up his development. Sutton should see some playing time early, and I believe he will show enough flashes which will shoot him up the rankings quickly.

  1. 2019 WR class will shake up the rankings in a major way…

If you haven’t heard already, the WR class for the 2019 draft has the chance to truly be elite! There are number of wide outs that are not only showing the prototypical size for the position, but are also extremely athletic and skilled individuals. There are about 6 players that have 1st round draft potential, with a handful of others that are knocking on that door. Watch for these players to sneak into the top 20 of rankings as soon as they are drafted and if I were you; I would get my shares of 2019 picks while you can!

  1. Patrick Mahomes will be a top 5 QB asset…

Looking at the current crop of QBs in the league, this may be a stretch for some. On the other hand, many have Watson as a top 5 QB asset after playing only 7 games his rookie year. Mahomes takes over the starting gig for the Chiefs under a great offensive coach and surrounded by young, talented weapons. He also brings elite arm talent with the ability to rip the ball all over the field. It isn’t out of the questions to see a 4,000 yard and 25+ TD season, with some running stats added in there. If he can, Mahomes will shoot up dynasty rankings and be a highly coveted QB.

  1. Jerick McKinnon will lose value…sell now…

Jerick Mckinnon may be the most hyped player coming into the 2018 season. Going to the 49ers from the Vikings as the presumed work horse back, this has gotten people excited for his potential. McKinnon doesn’t have much more room for his value to rise, and I don’t believe he has the ability to be an every down, work horse that many are projecting. It won’t shock me to see a timeshare in SF or even seeing them draft another RB in the 2019 draft. If either happen, you will see a dramatic dip in value and my suggestion would be to sell now while his value is at its peak.

[EDITOR’S NOTE: This was written before McKinnon suffered a season-ending knee injury]

  1. The 2018 QB class will all move into the top 15 by year’s end…

In late April, we saw a whopping 5 QBs come off the board in the first round and rightfully so. This group of QBs is extremely talented and is already showing they are the future of the NFL. There is a strong chance that most, if not all, of these players will be the starters for their teams by season’s end, and I believe they will show out once given this opportunity. With many of our current QBs getting up there in age and some average play from others, these dynamic QBs have the chance to prove they are the future and move into that QB1 type of range.

  1. David Njoku will be the TE1…

I think many have guys like Travis Kelce or Zach Ertz pegged as the next TE1 as Gronk is getting up there in age and we see his health declining. While both are deserving, I think Njoku will prove that he is the next dominant TE in this league. Njoku is only 22 years old entering his second season and on a team that just drafted a talented QB with the first overall pick. His athleticism and catching ability will make him a favorite target for his signal caller. Njoku should push the 1,000 yard mark and haul in 6-8 TDs on his way to dynasty glory.
