2022 Draft Coverage: Rachaad White

Rachaad White | Arizona State 6’0” 214 lbs. | 1/12/1999 (Age 23)

Rookie Profile: RB Rachaad White — BRoto Fantasy Football

Rachaad White was drafted with the 27th pick of the third round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, becoming the fourth running back and 91st overall player selected in the 2022 NFL Draft.

COLLEGE PRODUCTION

Rachaad White had to go the long, difficult route to get to the pros, but he earned every bit of it along the way. After committing to D2 Nebraska Kearney, he left for community college. White played two years at Mt. San Antonio College, becoming a first-team junior college All-American in 2019 (1,264 yards, 10 TDs rushing). In his first year with ASU, White led the FBS with a 10.0 YPC (42-420 in four games, three starts) average and five TDs. He also led the Sun Devils’ RBs in receiving yards that season. This past season White was a phenom and garnered second-team All-Pac-12 honors, leading the Sun Devils with 1,006 rushing yards and 15 scores on the ground and 43-456 receiving, despite missing time with a right leg injury (eight starts in 11 games played).

ATHLETIC TESTING

White posted great numbers at the NFL Scouting Combine, running the 40-yard dash in 4.48 seconds and logging 38” in the vertical jump. His broad jump of 125” was serviceable. He did look good in position drills at the combine and impressed at the Senior Bowl.

DRAFT ANALYSIS

Rapid Reaction to Draft Capital: Above-Average

Rapid Reaction to Landing Spot: Great

Rachaad White was selected with the 91st overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

FANTASY INSIGHTS

Rachaad White is a dynamic playmaker who put up some impressive highlights in two seasons with the Sun Devils. He caught a lot of passes and scored a lot of TDs in the Pac-12. He has NFL-ready size at 6’0” and 214 lbs and can be ready to contribute immediately if the plan is to put the ball in his hands. However, he is going to Tampa Bay to play with the great Tom Brady, and White’s current lack of development as a pass-protector will limit his snaps as a rookie. Still, Leonard Fournette is in the twilight of his career, so White has time to learn from an accomplished vet in Lenny and an NFL legend in Brady.

The only knock on White is that he is a 23-year-old rookie. Look for him to be a big-time contributor in the 2023 season, but dynasty owners need to be patient this upcoming season after grabbing White at the end of the first or beginning of the second round in dynasty rookie drafts.
