Daniel Bellinger was drafted 112th overall by the New York Giants, becoming the sixth tight end in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Bellinger is an interesting prospect. His college production was lackluster but his athletic ability is off the charts. So he is a projection-type tight end. He had 357 yards receiving and 31 receptions last year to go along with two touchdowns.
For a big man, Bellinger moves well. He is sharp in his route running ability. His hands are strong and sure. His blocking needs to improve to keep him on the field.
Here is why Daniel Bellinger is such an intriguing prospect. It is well documented that size/speed athletes translate to the tight end position in the NFL well. Bellinger has this in spades. He recorded a 9.66 relative athletic score out of at 6’4, 253 lbs. He ran a 4.63 40-yard dash with an excellent three-cone time of 7.05. His vertical was 34.5 inches.
