Welcome back to my streamers column. For each position, I will give two streamers that are under 40% owned.
With Week 12 of the NFL and fantasy football regular season just on the horizon, matchups are more season-decisive than ever.Name and draft value no longer matter. Instead, it’s simply outscoring your opponent with whatever means necessary. If it means picking a lesser-valued player off the waivers and throwing him in your lineup to win games, so be it. At least at the end of the day, you can say you tried. That’s what this week’s “In the Scope” targets are focused on. Players, who still won’t be seen as priority claims, but are players you can stick in your lineup over the next two weeks and help you vie for a spot in the fantasy football playoffs come Week 14.So, as always, here are your Week 12 “In the Scope” candidates who have the potential to be next week’s priority waiver claims.

Timing is one of the most crucial factors when it comes to considering adding any player to a fantasy football roster.Sometimes stats and trends mislead us to believe that a breakout for a player is coming. And while sometimes as analysts we just flat-out whiff, Dante Pettis for example, a majority of the time we just miss on the timing – often predicting a breakout too early. This week’s edition of “In the Scope” is all about players who are or could be re-emerging back into the fantasy landscape.Still, players who have the potential to be next week’s priority claims, this week’s “In the Scope” targets are some familiar faces that could help your team make a run to the coveted fantasy football playoffs.

It seems that with every passing week of the NFL regular season, more and more previous “In the Scope” candidates wind up being priority waiver claims down the road. Ronald Jones, Zach Pascal, and Kareem Hunt are just a few of our recent targets that were sought after on waiver wires this week. So, to keep you ahead of the pack, here are your Week 10 “In the Scope” candidates who have the potential to be the priority ads of the future.

Ryan Tannehill (TEN) vs Chiefs, 8.4% owned
Tannehill has performed well in his three starts from Week’s 7-9, putting up 19.2, 19.4, and then 23 fantasy points in four-point touchdown scoring. Now, he draws a plus matchup at home against the Chiefs. I expect Patrick Mahomes to return for this game, which will allow the Chiefs to put up points on the Titans much more so than with interim starter Matt Moore. Therefore, the Titans will need to play catch up, and Tannehill will be forced to throw.
After another fairly-uninteresting waiver wire class hitting the scene this week, this is the perfect opportunity to save your priority for when one does. And with the fantasy football playoffs now just about a month away, it’s the time to take some big swings and find some potential league-winners that could cost you next-to-nothing to acquire.Without further ado, here are your Week 9 “In the Scope” candidates who have the potential to be tomorrow’s top waiver claims.

“Next man up!”Often what’s said after a player goes down to injury in the NFL, also holds true in fantasy football as well.Today, ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter announced Kerryon Johnson, the Detroit Lions’ second-year running back, underwent surgery and will be placed on injured reserve (IR) after suffering a knee injury in the first quarter of Sunday’s matchup against the Vikings.

Due to recent injuries, breakouts, and trades, there seems to be a buzz around the waiver wire for the first time in a while heading into Week 8.And while you’re still using your FAAB and waiver claims on priority adds like Ty Johnson and Kenny Stills (both of whom were featured in this column earlier this season), it’s still important to take your chance on a flier to fill out your bench once the waivers have cleared. As always, here are your Week 8 “In the Scope” candidates who have the potential to be next week’s top waiver claims

In my week 7 streamers article, I recommended Cousins as part of a three-week stream, including Weeks 7-9. Cousins paid off against the Lions in Week 7, scoring 29.2 fantasy points in four-point touchdown scoring. This was Cousins’ third straight game exceeding 20 points, giving him momentum heading into this home matchup against the Redskins.
With no blockbuster waiver-wire targets hitting the scene this week, it should be in the best interest of most redraft team owners to continue to save their waiver wire position or FAAB budget for when one does. But with that being said, it is still crucial to constantly be working the free-agent market to find the players that could lead to value and wins down the road. Here are your Week 7 “In the Scope” candidates that could soon be the top waiver claims of tomorrow.

Kirk Cousins (MIN) vs. Lions, 26.6% owned
All of a sudden, the Vikings have opened up their offense to include far more passing. Cousins has exceeded 300 passing yards in each of the last two weeks. In Week 6 against the Eagles, star receiver Stefon Diggs finally got going, breaking out for seven receptions, 167 yards, and three receiving touchdowns. Cousins also continued his chemistry with his other great receiver Adam Thielen, connecting for six receptions, 57 yards, and a touchdown. For the season, Cousins has nine passing touchdowns compared to just three interceptions, making him a reliable and relatively safe quarterback. To further advocate for Cousins, his Week 8 and Week 9 matchups are against the Redskins and Chiefs, respectively, so this could be a three-week run for Cousins. Given the poor state of streamers in Week 7, Cousins will likely be ranked as a borderline QB1 in a relatively neutral matchup against the Lions.
Have you ever got to the bottom of a beer that’s been in the sun for too long? It’s not too refreshing, too great-tasting – but hey, it’s still beer. That’s exactly how the free-agent market feels heading into Week 6 of the fantasy football regular season. Not spectacular, nothing that’s going to knock your socks off – but hey, it’s still an opportunity to find that one diamond in the rough that could be a potential league winner down the road. And with that being said, here are your Week 6 “In the Scope” candidates who could soon be the top waiver claims of tomorrow.

Gardner Minshew (JAX) vs Saints, 18.1% owned
While Minshew has not been a star fantasy quarterback thus far in 2019, he has been consistent throughout the entire season. In standard four-point touchdown QB scoring, Minshew has scored at least 16 fantasy points in each game, never busting even once. Against the Panthers in Week 5, Minshew set a career-high of 374 passing yards and 44 passing attempts.
Stafford is clearly the priority streamer this week, playing at home against Kansas City. In this matchup, I expect the Chiefs to put up points against the Lions’ defense, forcing Stafford to throw the ball throughout the contest. While Stafford’s passing yards have decreased from week one through week three, he has faced the Chargers tough defense in week two followed by a tough matchup at the Eagles. Even though the Chiefs held both Lamar Jackson in week three and Derek Carr in week two to reasonable scoring outputs, I still believe the Chiefs’ defense can be beaten through the air. Therefore, I would be comfortable starting Stafford as a back-end QB1 in this game.

Welcome back to my streamers column. As usual, for each position, I will give two streamers that are under 40% owned according to ESPN’s ownership percentages based on the time of writing, typically Sunday night or Monday morning. I’ll start with quarterback, followed by tight end, then D/ST. In both sections, the player listed first is my preferred stream and the second option is a backup if the first player is already rostered.
What a wild Week 1 in the NFL. And with some key games this weekend, that craziness should continue into Week 2. To get you prepared for these games, I put together my picks for must-starts, players to fade, and sneaky sleepers at the QB, RB, and WR positions.

Holdouts, retirements, trades, extensions, and a whole lot of Antonio Brown drama made this preseason one for the books. And Week 1 of the regular season only followed the trend. Big Plays, coming-out parties, injuries, and total disappointments rocked both the NFL and the fantasy world Sunday. But, if we thought we saw it all in the preseason and Week 1, Week 2 should be just as exciting. The waiver wire and free agency should be in full effect this week. And while we know you are going to need a top waiver pick or an excessive amount of FAAB to acquire the likes of John Ross, Marquise Brown, and Malcolm Brown, “In the Scope” has got you covered with some stealthy additions that have great chances of being next week’s top waiver claims.
