Raiding The IDP Waiver Wire: Week 12

Players qualifying for this column are those rostered in no more than a third of IDP leagues on MyFantasyLeague.com (MFL); moreover, new names appear in each edition. Occasional readers are encouraged to visit past weeks’ write-ups for more options. Finally, these recommendations further assume you, the manager, have finite roster space with challenging cut decisions to add new names.

IDP Crystal Ball Week 10

Your author again gives his apologies for not providing this article last week. Personal lives and the health of others can certainly get in the way of even the most avid fantasy gamer. However, we are here now. As readers know, in this weekly article, we will take a look at a couple of IDP players available in many leagues that appear to show promise or have a foreseeable path to time on the field and production. The hope is that you can acquire these players for free or relatively close to free. It depends on the depth and settings of each individual league. Qualifying players are those available in at least two-thirds of full IDP leagues on MyFantasyLeague.com (MFL).

IDP Crystal Ball: Week 2

When conducting in-season weekly maintenance in your leagues, you should take advantage of IR spots and any opportunities to add players to your roster. You may have a player ruled out or on short-term IR that is eligible for your league’s IR list–utilize this! If you haven’t already, make sure you max out your taxi squad players with youngsters you like who are eligible to be placed on that list.

IDP Post-Rookie Draft Waiver Targets

Each season in dynasty leagues there are post-rookie draft waiver targets that provide a tremendous value for owners who were savvy or lucky enough to find them on their roster. Some provide an immediate “home-run” return like Kamren Curl did last season or Maxx Crosby in 2019. Others make great taxi squad stashes that provide value later (think Jerome Baker, Josey Jewell, Jeffery Simmons, Dre Greenlaw, D.J. Wonnum, Alex Highsmith, etc.). The majority will fall flat as expected.

IDP Draft Preview: Kwity Paye

Kwity Paye came out of Bishop Hendricken high school as a three-star defensive lineman with plenty of accolades to his name. Coming out of Rhode Island, Paye was at a camp where he clocked a spectacular 4.5 40-yard dash, vaulting him to the top-ranked player in his state for the 2017 recruiting class. A high 3-star recruit, Paye was a First-Team All-State pick. Off the field, Paye won the Rhode Island State Championship in Long Jump with a mark of 21 feet and 5 inches. The stud defender had his choice of multiple offers but ultimately decided that Ann Arbor was the right place for him. While at Michigan, Paye carved out a solid career for the Wolverines.

IDP Draft Preview: Gregory Rousseau

At 6’6” and 265 pounds, the Hurricane defensive lineman has excellent height for a pass rusher. Rousseau has a good base weight but should be able to add even more muscle as he develops in the NFL. His size, explosion, and speed are already above average coming into the NFL, but within a few years, I would expect Rousseau to play at 280 to 290 pounds and become the prototypical size for an NFL defensive end.

The IDP Unseen: Part Three

In this series of articles, we discuss some players from each defensive position group that are poised to break out this season. These players should put up a floor of respectable, fantasy starting lineup stat lines with the potential for positional top-15 ceilings. These are players that can be drafted or acquired with minimal draft capital in most full IDP leagues. An examination of the factors promoting these ascending players will take place in each article. Remarkably, there are quite a few players that are among the “IDP unseen,” as of now. The series began with the defensive line last offseason, followed by linebackers a few weeks ago.

IDP Wrap Up: Week 13

The New England Patriots took ownership of the Los Angeles Chargers offense on Sunday in LA. New England’s defense shut out Justin Herbert, Keenan Allen, Austin Ekeler, et al. in a game where New England’s DST produced three sacks, a blocked kick, two interceptions, and two touchdowns! Adrian Phillips, Adam Butler, and Devin McCourty were excellent IDP plays.

IDP Wrap Up: Week 10

WHAT WE LEARNED THIS WEEK Vegas baby! After relinquishing an average of 32 points per game through their first six games, the Raiders’ defense has tightened up significantly over their last three showings. Since the start of November, Las Vegas has given up less than 15 points per game. On Sunday, the unit intercepted Drew

IDP Wrap Up: Week 8

WHAT WE LEARNED THIS WEEK The Miami Dolphins did it again. A few weeks after dominating the 49ers, the Dolphins destroyed Jared Goff and company to beat the Rams 28-17. The defense and special teams produced two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, two sacks, and two touchdowns to lead Miami to victory. Players who made important IDP

IDP Rookie ADP Rewind

It’s been two weeks since the NFL draft was completed and fantasy drafts have been in full swing ever since. In this article, I want to take a look at and break down what I have been seeing in the data I have collected to date. I have compiled a spreadsheet to track all the completed IDP rookie drafts that I can find. As of today, I have 30 league drafts entered and there has been some interesting information that I would like to pass along to you for any upcoming drafts you might have

Still on the Market: Logan Ryan

The biggest name still on the market for the cornerbacks has to be Logan Ryan. He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the third round, as the 83rd selection overall of the 2013 NFL Draft. Ryan spent the first four seasons of his career with the Patriots before he hit free agency and signed with the Tennessee Titans.

IDP Change of Scenery: Denver to Baltimore

One of the more intriguing names left on the market for me was Derek Wolfe, who just agreed to terms with Baltimore Ravens a few days ago. Interestingly enough they signed Wolfe just days after Michael Brockers had issues with his physical, who they had signed earlier. Baltimore has been aggressively looking to overhaul its defensive line, as they have added Calais Campbell and tried to add Brockers.

IDP Change of Scenery: Cleveland to Las Vegas

One of the bigger names left on the market, Damarious Randall, just agreed to terms with the Las Vegas Raiders a few days ago. Unhappy with their veteran leadership and play at the safety position, they signed Randall to a one-year prove-it deal. There are no official numbers yet, but I would expect them to be team-friendly, and it’s been reported at $3.25 million.

IDP Change of Scenery: Atlanta to Cleveland

One of the bigger names left on the market, Adrian Clayborn, just signed with the Cleveland Browns, a few days ago. The Browns signed the former Atlanta Falcon to a two year, $5.75 million deal. Not an expensive signing, but a decent deal for Clayborn, and a team-friendly signing for the Browns. The deal will take the veteran defensive end through his age 33 season.

IDP Change of Scenery: San Francisco to Indianapolis

This trade has the star power, the first round pick involved and was a bit of surprise to a lot of us. The San Francisco 49ers traded star stud defensive tackle, DeForest Buckner, and in return, they would receive the Colts’ 2020 first round pick (13th overall). A big trade for both, with both getting impact pieces for their teams.
