IDP Linebacker Targets Returning From Injury

By Scott Osterloh | June 28, 2019 | Comments Off on IDP Linebacker Targets Returning From Injury

Every year in the NFL, dozens of star players go down with injuries that impact fantasy football. Last year was no exception, as 536 players were placed on IR in 2018. One way that smart Dynasty owners win titles is by scouring their league(s) for former IR players to help them solidify their roster. While […]

Why DeAndre Hopkins should be the 1.01 in Dynasty Startups

By Myles Wallin | June 28, 2019 | Comments Off on Why DeAndre Hopkins should be the 1.01 in Dynasty Startups

Ask anyone in the dynasty community and most will say Saquon Barkley(NYG- RB), Christian McCaffrey (CAR – RB), Alvin Kamara (NO – RB) or Ezekiel Elliot (DAL – RB) are going in the top four in dynasty startup drafts. There is an argument for all four to go 1.01.  If your league is 2 QB or superflex, then Patrick Mahomes (KC – QB) is another player that will be in consideration for the 1.01. All of these players are great choices and I am not telling you to pass on these guys if you are in love with them. One thing I noticed when looking at the most recent Dynasty Football Factory ADP is that there are zero wide receivers going in the top three in single quarterback startup dynasty drafts. Hopkins has the current best ADP for dynasty startups with 3.5. Why are receivers being passed on? I am here to tell you why you should draft a WR as your top asset.  More specifically, I will discuss why DeAndre Hopkins (HOU – WR) should be your 1.01 in dynasty startup drafts!

Second Year Wide Receivers to Buy Before It’s Too Late!

By Warren Kiessling | June 27, 2019 | Comments Off on Second Year Wide Receivers to Buy Before It’s Too Late!

With most dynasty rookie drafts wrapped up and training camps still a few weeks away, June is a great time to start evaluating your dynasty roster for 2019 and beyond. With that in mind, below is a deep dive on three wideouts I’m actively looking to target this summer. All three are guys who could easily outperform the cost of the acquisition this preseason, and perhaps start paying off as early as 2019.

Robert Foster – Buffalo Bills
Latest Dynasty Football Factory ADP: 136 Overall, WR59
My Dynasty Valuation: 119 Overall, WR44

Third Year Redraft Wide Receiver Breakouts

By Tyler Justin Karp | June 25, 2019 | Comments Off on Third Year Redraft Wide Receiver Breakouts

The “Third-year WR breakout” is discussed often. Essentially, if a wide receiver fails to show significant production by year three, most fantasy players give up on them. In this article, I’ll discuss three players who all have breakout potential from the 2017 NFL Draft class of wide receivers. Of course, there are third-year players like Cooper Kupp, Kenny Golladay, Chris Godwin, Mike Williams, and most notably Juju Smith-Schuster who have already broken out and had long stretches of fantasy relevance. You won’t hear about that level of player in this article. The players here have shown some flashes of talent and even production, but have never been a consistent producer for a whole season. I’ll also quote Fantasy Football Calculator’s half PPR ADP as a reference throughout the article.

Diamonds in the Rough: NFC West Rookie Edition

By Michael Oshita | June 24, 2019 | Comments Off on Diamonds in the Rough: NFC West Rookie Edition

And here we are. We’ve traversed our way through every division in the AFC and NFC finding those late round players that can make a difference in your league in not only their rookie year but for years to come. Our final stop leads us to the NFC West.A friendly reminder as we dive deep into our selection that we’re focusing on rookies that were drafted in the fourth round or later. There are some gems to be had in this article so let’s get our pick axes and hard hats as we dive in head first for our last edition of Diamonds in the Rough.Hakeem Butler, Arizona Cardinals, WRButler seemed a lock to be a second round pick but fell all the way to the top of the fourth round. I’m selfishly happy that he fell here because it makes my job a lot easier on who to select from the Arizona Cardinals prospects. At 6’5” 227 lbs, Butler is an opposing figure and will be a load for most cornerbacks that he will be matched up with. He’s a big play receiver, leading his entire draft class in receiving yards of passes that traveled 20-plus yards or more and having eight touchdowns of 40-plus yards over the past two seasons. His size and length will work in his favor in 50-50 ball situations. ……..

Dynasty Hot Routes: RB Depth Charting

By dffactory | June 23, 2019 | Comments Off on Dynasty Hot Routes: RB Depth Charting

Who is your long shot juggernaut (or someone currently listed third on an NFL teams depth chart) RB for 2019?Joshua Johnson @DFF_ CogLet’s really roll the proverbial dice here! Give me Samaje Perine because why not, he is practically free. If you own Derrius Guice or especially Adrian Peterson throw a fourth-round pick at the Perine owner right now! He is probably thinking about cutting him anyway. With both Peterson and Guice’s injury history, it’s ludicrous to think Perine won’t see close to 100 touches………………………………

Oh SNAPS!

By Matt Walker | June 22, 2019 | Comments Off on Oh SNAPS!

The concept is pretty simple: more snaps = more opportunity and more opportunity = more targets which are the mother of all fantasy points for wide receivers. I am going to profile a few players who project to see significant snap and/or target increases in 2019.Albert Wilson (Key Offseason Target Departure: Danny Amendola 5.3/gm)Offensive Snap Share = 25% (limited to seven games)PPR PPG 2018: 12.9There’s nowhere to go but up for Wilson who was only on the field for a quarter of the Dolphins snaps during his abbreviated seven-game season. During that time, he was still able to post the following stat lines:Week Two: 3/37/1 (12.7 pts)Week Three: 2/74/1 (15.4 pts)Week Six: 6/155/2 (33.2 pts)His season was cut short due to a week seven hip injury that ultimately landed him on the IR. If we project out his totals across 16 games (I know), Wilson would have scored 206.4 PPR points which were good enough for a WR22 finish in 2018. Assuming a full return to health, I believe that Wilson carries high-end WR3 upside in 2019. The new coaching staff knows how to maximize a players strengths, and Wilson has mismatch ability in space. With Danny Amendola heading to Detroit, the slot WR role is wide open in Miami and that should come with 100+ target upside. Kenny Stills and Devante Parker are best used as perimeter wide receivers which leaves that coveted slot role to Wilson. This is also assuming that Josh Rosen starts most, if not all, of Miami’s games in 2019 [NOTE: Ryan Fitzpatrick is a gunslinging wildcard at this point who would likely make Devante Parker WR1 overall]Golden Tate (Key Offseason Target Departure: Odell Beckham Jr. 10.3/gm)Offensive Snap Share = New to TeamPPR PPG 2018: 12.1………………………………………….

Kyle Rudolph Contract Extension

By Mike Holder | June 22, 2019 | Comments Off on Kyle Rudolph Contract Extension

Kyle RudolphIt’s important that we note the contract he had before. For those who don’t spend a lot of time on Spotrac, he had a $7.625m cap hit with zero dead cap (money still counting towards the team’s cap for the year). Virtually any time a player has zero dead cap in a year, he represents a cut candidate, or what some people may call a “cap casualty”. This fact was especially exacerbated by the fact that the Vikings were up against the salary cap for the year with very little room for flexibility. It’s not uncommon for teams to look at having $7.625m more cap space as being more valuable than a player. In this case, the Vikings found a way to have their cake and eat it too, while also giving Rudolph some short term guarantees………..

The Big Three Rookie RBs versus History

By Joshua Johnson | June 20, 2019 | Comments Off on The Big Three Rookie RBs versus History

Without taking an NFL snap, we in the fantasy community must make up our minds on how the new crop of RBs will produce in the NFL, as rookies and thereafter. Here, I look at how history might point the way to the career paths of Miles Sanders, Josh Jacobs, and David Montgomery. Miles Sanders […]

Diamonds in the Rough: Rookie Sleepers NFC South

By Michael Oshita | June 18, 2019 | Comments Off on Diamonds in the Rough: Rookie Sleepers NFC South

We’ve begun our move into the NFC South for our diamond hunting. A lot of interesting prospects here, but buyer beware on the prospects in the South. Some of these prospects have the potential to become future NFL starters and can flourish, but there are some obstacles that they will need to overcome to get there. As with most draft picks past the fourth round, barriers will be in their way for them to even sniff the NFL field or roster.

BestBall: Five players worth digging for

By John Walter | June 17, 2019 | Comments Off on BestBall: Five players worth digging for

The best part of fantasy football hands down is drafting. Best ball formats allow the fantasy player to draft a team and then forget it. No weekly conundrums on who to pick off the waiver wire, or who to start. Draft your favorite upside players and sit back and enjoy the show. Another perk of […]

How much does Tight End Premium scoring matter?

By Mike Holder | June 17, 2019 | Comments Off on How much does Tight End Premium scoring matter?

Earlier this offseason, I wrote this article about how to apply the concept of VBD to compare league formats. I didn’t look at this concept in the article, but I looked at something remarkably similar. I looked at the difference between a particularly “beefed up” scoring system for quarterbacks, and 2QB/super flex leagues. What we found was that even in a pretty high scoring setup for quarterbacks, there were still more quarterbacks in the top 30 VBD players in the super flex format than the beefy 1QB scenario. Let’s do something similar for TE-premium.
