Jalen Hurts came onto the scene as a true freshman for Alabama in 2016 and immediately captured the attention of the college football world after scoring four times in Alabama’s 52 to 6 beatdown of USC to start the season. Hurts was a four-star recruit, but very few expected that he would play right away for Alabama when he initially made his commitment (for context, he was only the 15th ranked Alabama commit according to the 247 consensus rankings). Hurts was considered to be a dual-threat quarterback, so it wasn’t entirely clear how he would fit into Lane Kiffin’s offense. If you had for some reason forgotten that Lane Kiffin was the offensive coordinator for Alabama at that time, I apologize for reminding you.
