After Thursday’s night performance, would it be crazy to say Zach Ertz is the top tight end in dynasty? Let’s take a look. Against the Panthers, ranked 7th best against TE in .5 PPR, he had 2 receptions on 5 targets for 18 yards and 2 TDs. On the season? He has 34 receptions on 53 targets for 405 yards and 4 TDs. That ranks him #1 among all tight ends in targets, receptions, and yards, as well as #2 in touchdowns through 6 weeks.
What about red zone targets among all TE? Last year he ranked 11th among all TE’s with 16. This year, he’s on pace to break smash that total.

But wait! There’s more. Look where he ranks among tight ends and wide receivers.
8th in TDs, 8th in targets, 9th in yards, and 9th in receptions.
Ertz is only 26, in his 2nd year of his 5-year extension, attached to a young, up and coming QB in Wentz. Outside of Alshon Jeffery, the Eagles lack a top threat in the red zone and Ertz fits that role. He’s becoming Wentz’s favorite target, leading the team with a 25.6% target share and it will continue throughout the season. I do not see this number regressing anytime soon, as the numbers above agree. The time to buy Ertz is closing(if it hasn’t already passed).
So do I think Ertz is the top overall TE? No, but he’s making a case for it. I still have Gronkowski ahead of him, along with Travis Kelce barely above him. As for my top 5 rankings, I have Gronk, Travis Kelce, Ertz, Reed, and Evan Engram.
How does the public view Ertz? Check out our ADP Data where he is currently going 60th overall and the 3rd TE off the board.
