Waiver Wire Sniping: Week 11

Last year when this series debuted, I wanted to help shed light on one of my favorite tricks in Fantasy Football, Waiver Wire Sniping. The strategy is simple. Without compromising your roster (of course), look to see if you have an available roster spot or a player that you were holding as a possible fill-in for a week that is no longer needed. Then look a week or two ahead and see if any of your current starters are on a bye or have a matchup you want to avoid.

By picking up a streaming option or high-end stash before the weekend action, you can “snipe” that player for free and before that player is featured on podcasts (such as the Fantasy Football Fellas podcast – shameless plug) and waiver articles across the fantasy football world. “Sniping” allows you to eliminate the grueling wait on Wednesday or Thursday morning, hoping your Waiver Wire pick-up isn’t grabbed by another team with a lower waiver priority or more FAAB dollars. If the chips fall your way, you may have a very valuable piece for the low-low price of NOTHING.

Each week I’ll be giving you potential steaming options for the week ahead, some stash candidates that are widely available in redraft leagues and highlighting the tough matchups and teams on bye in the coming week.

Here are some guys that you might not necessarily need for this week but might be high Waiver Wire pickups for week 11.

Week 11 Streaming Options

Dak Prescott @ ATL (35%) – Everyone was able to see how bad Prescott and the Cowboys offense was last week on Monday Night Football. However, the Titans defense is a tougher matchup than people might think, currently giving up the 6th fewest fantasy points to QBs on the season. Dak and the Cowboys head to Atlanta in week 11 who is currently giving up the 3rd most fantasy points to QBs. I’d be fine rolling with Dak against the Falcons.

Marcus Mariota @ IND (29%) – After a dismal start to the season, Mariota and Titans had a nice game on the road in their first game back off the bye last week. We’ll see if this Titans offense has turned the corner, but a matchup next week against the Colts could produce another nice game for Tennessee.

Lamar Jackson vs. CIN (6%) – Running QB… check. Facing a terrible defense… check. Playing at home off a bye week… check. The Lamar Jackson era could potentially start next week with the recent news that Joe Flacco’s status for their week 11 matchup against the Bengals could be in doubt. The passing stats won’t be pretty, but if he can just be adequate as a passer, the fantasy upside is tremendous. Go get this kid now before the hype train takes off.

Nyheim Hines vs. TEN (27%) – I had Hines on this list last week as well. Without a ‘slam dunk’ streaming RB, I think Hines is still interesting next week vs. Tennessee. Hines has had 45 or more rushing yards in 3 of his last 4 games, but his strength is still in the passing game. With the Titans giving up the 5th fewest points to opposing RBs, the Colts could turn to the short passing game with Hines.

Christian Kirk vs. OAK (33%) – Kirk has had a quiet season so far but has been coming on as of late. The Cardinals rookie WR has 7.5 or more fantasy points in standard scoring in 3 of his last 4 games, including a double-digit point performance in Arizona’s first game with new OC, Byron Leftwich. With the Cardinals coming off the bye this week we could see this run continue and with the plus matchup against Oakland in week 11, he could be a hot name when waivers roll around.

David Moorevs. GB (13%) – Another guy I had on this list last week, Moore saw a season-high 7 targets in week 9, but failed to score a TD for the first time in 4 games. Moore did get the Red Zone looks however as Wilson was targeting him late in the game. Moore has a solid week 10 matchup against the Rams, but week 11 on Thursday Night Football presents another game in which the Seahawks will most likely have keep the passing game going to keep pace.

Jeff Heuerman @ LAC (4%) – TE is gross next week for streamers, but Heuerman had a nice game last time out and with Denver on a bye this week, he was not added much off waivers. Don’t love him, but he’s a decent dart throw in a matchup that the Broncos will have to keep throwing.

ARI vs. OAK (12%) – Arizona plays the Raiders and with Buffalo on a bye in week 11, this is the matchup to target.

The Stashes – Other players to monitor that might be available in your league. Listed below in order I would rank these pickups.

Deeper League Options: Elijah McGuire (17%), Josh Adams (12%)

Shallow League Options: Tre’Quan Smith (30%), Keke Coutee (19%),Maurice Harris (30%)

Deeper League Options: Anthony Miller (12%), John Ross (15%)

Week 11 Potential Matchups to Avoid: CHI vs. MIN, CIN @ BAL, MIN @ CHI

Teams on Bye next week: BUF, CLE, MIA, NE, NYJ, SF
