The Wire: Week 5

Welcome back to another weekly edition of “The Wire”. In this series, I review three players each week that you should target on the waiver wire for your Dynasty teams. To keep the information in this series consistent, I will only refer to players with an ownership percentage of less than 50%, according to Sleeper Dynasty leagues. I’ll do my best to provide you with players that have a more long-term upside rather than a one-week ceiling, seeing that this is a Dynasty series and not Redraft. So, sit back, relax, and let me find you some diamonds in the rough!

Elijah Higgins

Diamond in the Rough?

In this year’s Draft, pick 197, Elijah Higgins, I want to discuss, what I call, the Gary Kubiak pick. I will describe Mr. Higgins as a potential Diamond in the Rough and the next Darren Waller in this article. I hope you enjoy it and that it is helpful toward your fantasy football success.

Elijah Moore

Rapid Reaction: Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns

After an exciting rookie year with the Jets, Elijah Moore was a dynasty darling going into the 2022 season. The drafting of Garrett Wilson was expected to open up the field even more for the talented second-year man out of Ole Miss. Unfortunately for dynasty managers that roster Elijah Moore, the second-year leap was not present. Instead, we were disappointed by a major sophomore slump. His dynasty value took a massive drop off as well as it appeared he was on the outside looking in as far as the Jets offense was concerned. Losing out on slot snaps to the likes of Braxton Berrios. I feared for my Elijah Moore shares if I was going to have to wait for him to get on a second contract just to finally get some return on my investment. On Wednesday, March 22nd, Elijah Moore was traded to the Cleveland Browns with a pick exchange.

Free Agency Day 1: Dynasty Winners and Losers

James Conner is coming off a highly productive season in Arizona last year. He ran for 752 yards and 18 touchdowns in 15 games, good for seventh overall in fantasy points per game. We should expect touchdown regression next season given the rate of over one TD per game last year. He turns 27 in May so the finer details of the contract will be interesting.  Three years seems like a significant commitment but there will be contract outs given the contract is for $13.5 million guaranteed.

The Dynasty Wire: Week 14

This week and every week going forward we’ll bring you several recommendations for players you should add to your dynasty rosters. We’ll mainly be targeting lower-owned guys who should be available in all but the deepest leagues.

Week 14 marks the return of Gardner Minshew which is apparently great news for Keelan Cole. Cole caught seven of 12 targets for 67 yards and a touchdown in the loss to the Titans. He’s received at least five targets in four of the last five games and 2.9 fantasy points per touch, good for first on the team among receivers with at least 20 targets.

The Redraft Wire: Week 8

Wilkins’ offensive snap share spiked to 51% in Week 8 as he led the team in rushing attempts over Nyheim Hines and rookie darling Jonathan Taylor. He took 20 carries for 89 yards. Wilkins didn’t have a breakout game or anything but proved he could be more effective than Taylor who everyone expected to overtake the lead role at some point this season. That simply hasn’t happened and Wilkins could be in line for a whole bunch of work going forward.
