Dynasty Sleeper of the Week: Jordan Akins

Welcome back to Dynasty Sleeper of the Week! As mentioned in previous weeks, this is not a waiver article. This is more of a player that should be on your radar article. Last week we hit the running back position. This week I am hitting a tight end I believe can be added today that you can plug and play over some TEs you are holding on to in your leagues. That player is Jordan Akins of the Houston Texans. According to ESPN, he is owned in 3.8% of leagues at the moment on My Fantasy League it jumps to 42%, however, I still do not believe that this is enough for a TE that has shown some flashes the past few weeks. After an injury-plagued 2018, fantasy owners were anticipating a huge bounce-back year from Jack Doyle in 2019. This did not come to fruition though, as Andrew Luck decided to retire a few weeks before the regular season. After some short-lived early season success, the Colts’ passing attack succumbed to injuries and Jacoby Brissett’s limitations as a passer. Doyle was included in these struggles, as he posted a career-low 59.7 percent catch rate.

Kahale Warring: 2020 Dynasty Profile

Warring fits the specifications of a fantasy football “sleeper” candidate like a glove. He has the willingness and competitiveness to handle run-blocking duties, and the talent to line up in the slot. Versatility is valuable in the NFL. If Warring wins the primary TE job for the Texans, he should be capable of staying on the field for the majority of the snaps. Having just turned 23 this offseason, any role Kahale carves out this coming season should be maintained, with the potential for growth into more opportunities, provided he stays healthy. He can be acquired late in drafts or for very minimal assets via trade in most dynasty leagues, and may even be available on waivers in a few.

Dynasty Outlook: Dan Arnold

While Arnold appears to be a very good pass catcher, he is on the lighter side, at just 222 pounds. His limited impact in the blocking game may not allow him to be an every-down type of tight end, but he could be a touchdown machine like he was in college. Arnold has only played four games with the Cardinals, and his offensive snap rate increased each of the last three games, finishing with 44% in Week 17. This shows that Kingsbury has every intention of getting him involved.

QBs/RBs/TEs To Watch During The Senior Bowl

Yet another example of why players should leave once they have favorable draft capital. At this point last year, Herbert was considered in contention for the first overall pick of the NFL Draft. This year, Herbert’s draft capital is more questionable to an extent, he’s simply not falling outside of the first round. Much like Daniel Jones last year, Herbert is given the opportunity to make a team fall in love with him so much that it vaults his draft capital.
