IDP Wait and See Players

I’m going to share a couple of players with you that are good targets for those of you scouring the 7th round in your rookie drafts. These players would be great additions to your taxi squad. Wait and see players if you will.

Tanoh Kpassagnon, DE Kansas City:

Getting drafted by KC, who has some experience developing DEs, is a perfect fit. Last year the Chiefs took Chris Jones, and look what he has done! I’m blown away when I look at his arm length, a whopping 35 and ⅝ inches long! Look for him to be moved around this KC front. This giant is 6’7 and 289 pounds.I think about rubber man when I see this guy play. Learning the NFL game and needing to be coached up on technique will be what takes him longer to see the field. If you’re able to hold him on your taxi the rewards will come in another season, maybe two at the most. His strength peaks my interest, along with his size. If he can figure out how to control and move his body more, he will be a nice IDP starter down the road.

Keion Adams, LB Pittsburgh Steelers:

I wrote him up before the draft; you can find that article here. Pittsburgh needed to add some pass rushers, and they got a good one. My biggest worry with Keion Adams in Pittsburgh will be him holding up against the ground and pound in the run game.  I’m confident he will get the coaching needed to make a difference in his pass rushing role. Currently, he is being drafted late in the 7th round in rookie drafts. Lock him up on your teams. I like him for depth and bye week coverage. If you play in leagues that require OLBs, he is someone you need to target.

Vince Biegel, LB Green Bay Packers:

Out are Julius Peppers, and Datone Jones. The door is open for Vince Biegel to see some snaps sooner rather than later. Realistically he will see some sub package snaps earlier on. Clay Matthews has been slowing down and could also see reduced snaps, once again paving the way for some extra work. I see him capable of moving around this defense and able to rush the passer from between the tackles and also to get outside. With that kind of athleticism, you need to stash this guy and see how the defense plays out in camp.

Marquel Lee, LB Oakland Raiders:

Possible starting MLB alert here! If you’re able to land a starting MLB in the 7th round, you MUST do so. This position is one we love in IDP leagues. Tackle opportunities and capable of playing all three down, golden. It’s not all a love fest though. He will need to develop his skills in coverage before he is talked about as a complete player. The skills are there to develop, I have watched his film and believe he can become a starter as long as he works at it. Target him and see how camp goes for him.

Jalen Reeves-Maybin, LB Detroit Lions:

I’m a little stunned he has been available so late in my rookie drafts. Drafted into a situation where he will be a starting weakside Lb, who will eat up some tackles, should be drafted in the 7th round. His profile write-up can be found here.

Enjoy your drafts!

I am surprised Jalen Reeves-Maybin is being taking late in drafts as well. He is a top late round steal at this point. I think some owners were scared away by shoulder injury. He is going to be a tackling machine for Detroit and pairing him with Jarrad Davis, is going to give the Lions a great LB combo, for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for the tips, got both Reeves-Maybin and Thus Bowser in late rounds of my draft. Also took a chance and got Miles Killebrew in the 7th round. What is your scouting on this guy? Thanks again!

That’s a nice haul. This late rounds are always nice to add those IDP players.

Miles is a smart player who knows everyone’s roles. True in the box safety who’s a sure tackler. He just can’t be counted on in pass defense. Could carve himself a role but will earn his roster spot on special teams early on. Good player to stash and see how he develops.

Thanks for the reply. I read some Buccanon comparison. Yes, like you say, a nice stash option.
        Keep up the great insights.
