Believe it or not, we are only 21 days away from kicking off the 2017 college football season. Summer is winding down. Kids are heading back to school. We are in the final stretch, but the closer we get to August 26th, the longer the days will feel. We might as well do something to pass the time. Let’s continue our look at our consensus Top 25 Devy prospects with our 22nd ranked player and one of two quarterbacks to make the list:
Name: Sam Darnold
School: Southern California
Weight: 220 lbs
2018 Class: 16
Sam Darnold played sparingly through USC’s first three games before replacing Max Browne as the Trojans’ starting QB in game four versus Utah. After a 1-3 start, Darnold led the Trojans to 9 straight wins. During that win streak, Darnold put together a stretch where he had a touchdown to interception ratio of 18:3 before his first career two interception game against Washington.
An unforgettable performance in the Rose Bowl capped Darnold’s breakout season and had NFL decision makers talking about him at the Scouting Combine…a year before he’s draft eligible.
By all accounts, Darnold seems like a level-headed kid who will stay grounded and not allow the hype and expectations change who he is on or off the field.
