Welcome the DFF Network’s IDP centric show. Your talking heads Nick ” Hail to the Redskins” Wagner and Joshua “@DFF_Cog” Johnson are here to help you circumnavigate through the murky IDP trenches, as well as make you a more well-rounded dynasty threat. Tighten your laces and get your mouthpiece fully in your mouth as the boys rattle your cage.
UDFA of the Week: Deep LB Sleeper Eric Wilson from Cincinnati will be in Vikings mini-camp.
Rookie Defensive Line Top 10:
1 Myles Garrett – The Browns will force him into an 80%+ snap share. #Opportunity
2 Derek Barnett – He certainly has bodies on the depth chart in Philadelphia to contend with, yet his draft capital is going to help him immensely.
3 Solomon Thomas – DT baby! Love to exploit it when it happens.
4 Jonathan Allen – Is DT on MFL he should play both inside and outside as well as have very solid tackle floor. Nick better order a jersey now!
5 Taco Charlton – Great situation for an edge to go. He will be a rotation but Dallas should move him around quite a bit. Dark horse to lead all rookies in sacks?
6 Tak McKinley – Here have a savage on an insanely deep defense unit. Tackle ops will flood his way.
7 Malik McDowell – Steps into a very good situation, if Pete Carroll flips the right switch he could be devastating.
8 Tanoh Kpassagon – Perfect 3-4 scheme for him to flourish. You will need to be super patient though he could be starting by the final 4 to 6 of 2017.
9 Daeshon Hall – It’s going to take a year but he gets to learn from Julius Peppers and Charles Johnson.
10 Montravius Adams – He could be the answer inside for Green Bay. He has the talent to grow into one 60% snap guys.
Rookie Defensive Back Top 15:
1 Jamal Adams – Really his only weakness is that he is too good in coverage and that might take away some tackle opportunities.
2 Obi Melifonwu – TE assassin on third down and whatever else you need him to be on 1st and 2nd down.
3 Budda Baker – Chess piece on a defensive unit that thrives on versatility.
4 Eddie Jackson – Another player who can do everything in the secondary.
5 Kevin King – WR1 beware. The heir to #1 IDP CB is getting fitted for his crown.
6 Malik Hooker – I still think he needs tackling refinement but he will never leave the field. Film vs highlights not great.
7 Marcus Williams – Closer to Hooker then people realize. They got themselves a gem.
8 Josh Jones – He and the Packers will need to prove he’s not just a workout warrior.
9 Desmond King – Will likely see the field in sub-package formations as an in-the-box nickel. He will grow up fast.
10 Rasul Douglas – He 6’3″ frame means he will get picked on as a rookie and his future running mate is the next great shutdown corner (Sidney Jones). I would definitely use a late round rookie pick on him.
11 Marlon Humphrey – He will help against the run admirably and his lacking ball skills will get his tackle floor on the level.
12 Chidobe Awuzie – Odell, Brandon Marshall, Doctson, Crowder, Pryor, Alshon, JMatt these are his responsibilities, he will be targeted. He is also a very sure tackler and his DC Rod Marinelli needs his CBs to in run support to make his system work.
13 Xavier Woods – Another Cowboy DB. Don’t be surprised to see Woods laying the wood from various positions maybe even WLB.
14 Tre’Davious White – Stephon Gillmore’s departure means Ronald Darby likely sees fewer targets no matter what side of the field he lines up. White might have a frantic rookie year but he could excel as an IDP asset.
15 Cameron Sutton/Brian Allen – One of these two players is going to be Sean Davis’s future safety mate.
17 Jabrill Peppers – I need to see 60 tackles (at least 40 solo) we I will endorse him. You have been warned.
