The mocks we’ve done so far have been focused on the offensive side of the ball. Knowing that there are many fans of IDP out there we decided it was time to go ahead and give an IDP mock to call your very own.
I’ve even put an asterisk next to the defensive players just so you feel that extra bit of love.
This mock was undertaken with the understanding only players who have declared would be picked. Big thanks to those who took part, especially: @The_ATJ,@duckzfan50,@HRoman1234,@Kered_Eel, and @Josh44444. This draft had a mix of DFF writers, as well as other fantasy players who just love IDP, this is probably a more accurate representation of what a real (fantasy) draft would look like. Unless you’re in one of those “Writer’s Only” leagues (if so, my condolences).
As always, I’ve added the Twitter handle of the party who made the selection, as well as any comments they shared regarding the pick.
I’ve also denoted DFF writers with a DFF next to their names (creative, I know).
1.01 Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State (@Josh444444)
I think he is a better all around back then Fournette and I prefer RBs to WRs when all else is even.
1.02 Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU (@Kered_Eel)
I won’t get too cute yet. Love the size/speed/strength combo, but concerned with lateral agility.
1.03 Mike Williams, WR, Clemson (@the_ATJ)
1.04 Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan (@hroman1234)
Size speed and route running. Projects like an elite WR1 in the NFL.
1.05 Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford (@fulst_rosto)(DFF)
As a couple of non-declared WRs are unavailable to select, I switched to Stanford’s outgoing Junior RB. Has the skill set to be PPR gold (especially in leagues with special teams points). Will need to improve pass blocking to be a 3 down back at the next level.
1.06 John Ross, WR, Washington (@duckzfan50)
1.07 D’Onte Foreman, RB, Texas (@FatAdamSchefter)(DFF)
Foreman has the power to run through defenders & enough speed to get past them.
1.08 Alvin Kamara, RB, Tennessee (@allpurposeyrd8g)(DFF)
The combination of his running ability and pass catching give him a boost in PPR formats. There is so much upside with Kamara that I couldn’t allow him to go any farther.
1.09 JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, USC (@DFF_Madman)(DFF)
Plays nasty. Better player than I have given him credit for. Watched more tape and was impressed. A little Steve Smith… a little Anquan Boldin… More ready for the NFL than many of his 2017 WR peers.
*1.10 Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M (@pacificscouting)(DFF)
Myles Garrett is the most highly touted DE prospects since Clowney. He had a great blend of power and speed off the edge. Preferably a 4-3 DE but he has shown he can rush from multiple positions as well as standing. Can also be disruptive in the run game.
1.11 Joe Mixon, RB, Oklahoma (@AndrewMiley)(DFF)
Yes he is a PR nightmare and might be an awful human being; However he reminds a lot of the former Chief Priest Holmes, so I will take the risk here on my RB4 in this class
*1.12 Zach Cunningham, LB, Vanderbilt (@DFF_JohnIDP)(DFF)
This guy can ball. Gets off blocks and can move linemen. Will stay on the field on passing downs. 3 down LB and in balanced scoring he will be gold.
*2.01 Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama (@Josh444444)
Best LB in the draft for me, by far. I see a lot of Bobby Wagner in him. Like the way he can cover and rush the passer. Going to be a stat machine.
2.02 OJ Howard, TE, Alabama(@Kered_Eeel)
Had hoped Mixon or Foster would be here but I’ll take my top TE here.
2.03 Wayne Gallman, RB, Clemson (@the_ATJ)
*2.04 TJ Watt, LB, WISCONSIN (@hroman1234)
Want to stick to WR here – would have taken Dupree or Sutton if they had declared but WATT the heck…. going with gene pool – and stats not so bad either.
*2.05 Jamal Adams, S, LSU (@fulst_rosto)(DFF)
With outstanding awareness, and instincts to be around the ball, the former Tigers Safety will put up solid fantasy stat lines with his myriad of abilities whether up in the tackle box, mirroring slot receivers or physically matching TEs.
2.06 Cooper Kupp, WR, Eastern Washington(@duckzfan50)
Small school kid.All he does is catch passes, get yards, and score touchdowns!
*2.07 Kendell Beckwith, LB, LSU (@FatAdamSchefter)(DFF)
My favorite Linebacker coming out. At 6’2 & 245 lbs who runs a 4.6 40 yard dash. Um, yes please.
*2.08 Jarrad Davis, LB, Florida (@allpurposeyrd8g)(DFF)
*2.09 Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State (@DFF_Madman)(DFF)
Star in center field. Instincts, ball skills, speed. Needs to practice tackling. I’ll pair him up with Landon Collins on my dyno teams.
2.10 Jamaal Williams, RB, BYU (@pacificscouting)(DFF)
2.11 Samaje Perine, RB, Oklahoma (@AndrewMiley)(DFF)
Sorry I don’t agree with Bleacher Boy. I like the way he runs close to the ground, has good balance, and runs through people. He is my #5 RB, why let him drop more?
*2.12 Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama (@DFF_JohnIDP)(DFF)
Plays run and is a major disruption in the passing game. Hoping he goes 3 tech and he will dominate. Little early for me here but I went with it. Still some good names left on my board.
3.01 Isaiah Ford, WR, Va Tech (@Josh444444)
I like his body control and the way he can go up and high point a ball. His hands are solid. Might not be the fastest guys but feel like it is good value here.
3.02 KD Cannon, WR, Baylor (@Kered_Eel)
Slipped to the 4th round in the most recent DFF Devy Mock.
*3.03 Derek Barnett, EDGE, Tennessee (@the_ATJ)
3.04 Dede Westbrook, WR, Oklahoma (@hroman1234)
Speed and quickness; should be productive in the slot.
*3.05 Tim Williams, LB, Alabama (@fulst_rosto)(DFF)
The sheer depth of talent in Bama’s front 7 kept the edge rusher in passing down rotation, if he can elevate himself to being a 3 down OLB he may produce significant points in big play heavy formats.
3.06 Kareem Hunt, RB, Toledo (@duckzfan50)
Want to own shares, even though this a fake team. I really like his skill set.
3.07 Travin Dural, LSU, WR (@FatAdamSchefter)(DFF)
Undervalued at LSU because of the antiquated offense. He will get a long hard look in the draft by NFL teams because of his size a sub 4.4 40 yard dash time.
3.08 Evan Engram, TE, Ole Miss (@allpurposeyrd8g)(DFF)
3.09 Elijah Hood, RB, UNC (@DFF_Madman)(DFF)
Underrated back. Got about 15 carries per game, which is why his numbers are somewhat low. But he did average about 6 YPC, which is the best in UNC history. Good vision, runs tough inside, carrying LBs and DBs with him for extra yards. Does not like to be tackled. Can be a complete back in the NFL and a 3-down guy. I’ll be summarizing Hood further in a sleeper draft picks article at DFF in the near future.
*3.10 Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford (@pacificscouting)(DFF)
3.11 David Njoku, TE Miami (@AndrewMiley)(DFF)
I was going Solomon Thomas, but his selection made me adjust to my second rated TE!
3.12 DeShone Kizer QB Notre Dame (@DFF_JohnIDP)(DFF)
I will be that guy that goes QB. Stays tall in the pocket. Nice touch and can make the down the field throws.
That takes care of Rounds 1-3, check back with us Saturday to see how the final 3 rounds play out.
